The rise to fear in the short story blackout and blood brothers

This essay is about the impact of fear and the examination of how it

presents in self in both stories . The definition of fear is that it is an  unpleasant

emotion caused by the threat of danger, It also  makes you get a feeling of anxiety .

The story Blood Brothers is about two twin brothers named Paul and Benji. They both

display opposite personality traits, Paul is more of an introvert that loves nature while

Benjy is an extrovert and a very carefree person. In the story hate. Paul is

uncomfortable with his relationship with his twin brother Benjy. He dislikes the fact

that Benjy appears to be able to do things that Paul himself cannot do. Paul also

dislikes not being as brave as Benjy and in many ways uses Benjy as his benchmark

for doing things. Paul always thinks that he is inferior to benjy and perceives himself

as a failure even though paul hates benjy he would still like to be friends with him .

The fear Experienced by Paul in this story is caused by his lack of self esteem 

and the inability to to be his own person . This is shown by the abilities of benjy as he

is open to opinions of himself and more self confident of his abilities. At the end of

the story paul threatens benjy with a sharp object this leads to benjy showing fear for

the first time in the story after the attack the two brothers began to resonate with each
other and after the attack benjy began to grow closer to paul and paul began to stood

on his two feet implying that paul has grown confidence. Paul and benji shearing fear

impacted their relation ship by bringing benji closer to paul and paul groing as a

person.

The short story blackout is set in Jamaica and is about racism and the contrast

of two different races, sexes and cultures. ... At this point the story builds an

expectation of some sort of conflict. An American woman was waiting at a bus

stop. In the story the lady is afraid of associating with the black man she thinks that

the black man is unclean
