CONCEPT PAPER:

All the program of the Department of Education Senior High School (SHS) by the K-12 program has
one component where Senior High School student should undergo Work Immersion. Work immersion
is a stage where graduating student can demonstrate their abilities and talents in the chosen course of
study. Through this work immersion, they can also apply the knowledge they have learned in the
classroom. This is really helpful for students to improve their skills and let their minds know what they
lack. And this immersion in work is regarded as a stepping stone for students to practice and develop
according to their own choices. At such times the students do work immersion but due to the pandemic
the traditional Work Immersion was set a set aside. The higher commission decided to cancelled this
event for the sake of everyone safety. The global lockdown affect everyone’s living. The Department of
Education make a plan so that the children's time is not wasted, since we’re just here in our houses The
Department of Education decided to have a New Normal Learning which is a Online Class and a Printed
Module. By the guidance of the teachers, student can still educate themselves through these New
Normal Learning. Hence, in lieu of work immersion, Teachers decided to give us a Creative Portfolio as a
final requirements.

By creating the desired task, students got three weeks to end the ultimate performance task. In the past
three weeks, I was able to finish the required task. Time management is indeed the key. We cannot deny
the fact that we’re also have other chores to do in our houses. As a graduating student, I know my
priority which is complying the requirements. While making this project, my creativity was tested. I was
able to lay out this by myself. This portfolio talks about the overall performance in core subject in
HUMSS such as Discipline and Ideas in the Applied Social Sciences, Creative Non Fiction, Philippine
Politics and Governance, Community Engagement, Trends, Network, Critical thinking in the 21 st Century
and Work Immersion. In terms of materials and budget, I did not exceed in at least two hundred pesos, I
just use bond paper, binder and a double sided tape. This activity given to us, I was able to captured a
realistic workplace. When you are in the work place, you obliged to abide the given rules and regulation.

The portfolio demonstrates knowledge attained in a given class or throughout your school career. I know
making a portfolio is not easy but when you are near in the finish line your blood, sweat and tear will
paid off. Aside from being a creative, I begin to begin to reflect and understand my own strengths and
needs.
INSIGHTS

Discipline and Ideas in the Applied Social Sciences

In this subject I gained knowledge on how Social Science works. I learned how to explore and experience
Social science theories and Methodologies in real life settings through the practice of three applied
Social Sciences; discipline of communication, social work and counseling which is the most important
right now because we suffered from this pandemic.

Aside from that, this subject tends to develop a high understanding on the basic concept of counseling,
social work and communication on the student through dynamic’s case studies, exposure and
observation and project implementation and evaluation. This will help them to become more prudent in
the world the they’re living.

Creative Non fiction

This subject expanded my knowledge when writing a academic essay and writing a fiction. Your words
should be more presentable and more anvilling to your readers. Since it is a Non fiction, this kind of
genre are based on facts. It is a writing where you can narrate authors life or the authors eye on the
lives of others.

Nowadays, kids love nonfiction aside from getting a creative minds this also serve a practice using their
imagination. This creative nonfiction markedly different other types of books associated with the non
fiction genre, like academic textbook.

Philippine Politics and Governance

As a netizen, I care on how our Politics and Government works. We cannot deny the fact that
government

have a huge role in our daily live. They a huge impact of our lives. I’m very thankful that we have this
kind of subject in our Senior High School, this subject teached us on how the politics really works. How
biased our government is.

It is imperative that everyone must learn at least the basics of politics and governance. As a young adult,

This kind of subject gave us a proper learning about the rules and regulation about the government.

Community Engagement, Solidarity and Citizenship

In this subject, I learned that we must provide a service or product to an individual, group or the
community as a whole. It takes a strategic approach to the relationships, communication and interaction

between member to influence outcome from both. Also this subject tends to investigate and examine

challenges of contemporary community life.

This kind of subject have a huge impact to the students because it integrate applied social sciences into

community action initiatives which is one of the eye catching to the millennials.

Trends, Network, Critical thinking in the 21st century

This subject is very eye catching. Having a efficiency in learning, it enables us to think critically and

wisely under pressured situation. It aids in developing critical and creative thinking skills which is the

essential tool for decision making and understanding ‘ethic of care’. Since I am living in a contemporary

world, I myself should have a enhance critical thinking and appreciation of contemporary issues and

challenges because of the various issue and challenges that confront the contemporary world.

I’m beyond thankful that I have this kind of subject. I was able to analyze a situation, solve problem,

make judgement and extract learning.

Work Immersion

This subject enhance cognitive skills. Having this kind of subject is very useful tool to the graduating

students, they develop cognitive flexibility, demonstrating increased attention control, better

memory and superior problem solving skills as well as an enhanced understanding of their

primary language.

Work immersion is a stage where graduating student can demonstrate their abilities and talents in the

REFLECTION

In general, the core subject of Humanities and Social Science which is the Discipline and Ideas in the

Applied Social Sciences, Creative Non Fiction, Philippine Politics and Governance, Community

Engagement, Trends, Network, Critical thinking in the 21 st Century and Work Immersion has a

lot of learning in terms of waking me up into the real world a lot of values where can I apply it in

the future. The subjects that are mentioned expanded my knowledge about everything in the

HUMSS. I learned how Social Science works, to have a creative minds, the basics of politics and

governance,we must provide a service or product to an individual, group or the community as a whole,

to think critically and wisely under pressured situation and develop cognitive flexibility.

Learning something is such a privilege to us, it help us to grow and to have a decent life. It help us to

gain knowledge everything in life. Broader our critical thinking and to be wise human. We need to be

grateful because even though we’re still in the pandemic we can still learn about something that can

help us in the future. The only we can do right now is to sit back and trust the process.

This portfolio of mine leave me speechless, I just realize that as a human we have responsibilities in life.

By being a good human means a good business.
