1. The engine oil pressure switch or the knock sensor unplugged can turn the transmission into limp mode. This is a
complex system, and you need to get a good repair manual to guide you through this problem.
2. The transmission should operate even if it is in limp mode. In limp mode it will shift strangely, but it will still
drive. Now it is possible that the transmission is bad, and if that is the problem, you might be getting deeper into
the wiring and not doing any good. I would start off by getting a good repair manual and get into the wiring to
check this problem out.
3. I would also get a manual on the transmission because there are specific tests you can do to tell you if there are
problems inside the transmission. Lots of people think the transmission is bad, and install a rebuilt one, only to
have the same problems after spending all that money, and time. You don't want to do that, and the only way to
really know is to get a good transmission manual and do the diagnose to find out what is going on.
4. Your transmission is a 41TE They are also called an A604.
5. There is a place on the internet that has these manuals, but they only sell to professional shops, so when you
order you have to be a shop if you know what I mean. I will post a link below where you can get the transmission
manual. If you have any more questions I am here to help. Good luck, and Thanks for using Just Answer.
