III. About GLUTATHIONE

GLUTATHIONE
Glutathione is a substance produced naturally by the liver. It is also found in fruits,
vegetables, and meats. Coined “The Mother of All Antioxidants” by Mark Hyman,
MD.
Glutathione (GSH) is a peptide consisting of three key amino acids that plays several
vital roles in the body.It has been the subject of over 115,000 medical studies
Glutathione (GSH) is an important antioxidant in plants, animals, fungi, and some
bacteria and archaea. Glutathione is capable of preventing damage to important
cellular components caused by reactive oxygen species such as free radicals,
peroxides, lipid peroxides, and heavy metals.
Glutathione plays an important role in preventing oxidative damage to the skin.In
addition to its many recognized biological functions, glutathione has also been
associated with skin lightening ability.Glutathione utilizes different mechanisms to
exert its action as a skin whitening agent at various levels of melanogenesis.

BIOSYNTHESIS
The biosynthesis pathway for glutathione is found in some bacteria, such as
cyanobacteria and proteobacteria, but is missing in many other bacteria. Most
eukaryotes, including humans, synthesize glutathione.Glutathione is not an essential
nutrient for humans, since it can be synthesized in the body from the amino acids L-
cysteine, L-glutamic acid, and glycine; it does not have to be present as a
supplement in the diet.
WINEMAKING
The content of glutathione is must, the first raw form of wine, determines the
browning, or caramelizes.

3
IV. Types of Melanin formation:
In most mammals, melanin formation consists of eumelanin (brown-black pigment)
and pheomelanin (yellow-red pigment) as either mixtures or co-polymers. Increase in
glutathione level may induce the pigment cell to produce pheomelanin instead of
eumelanin pigments. A research by Te-Sheng Chang found lowest levels of reduced
glutathione to be associated with eumelanin type pigmentation, whereas the highest
ones were associated with the pheomelanin. As a result, it is reasonable to assume
that depletion of glutathione would result in eumelanin formation.

V. Treatments from GLUTATHIONE:

People take glutathione by mouth for treating:
· cataracts and glaucoma
· preventing aging
· treating or preventing alcoholism
· heart disease (atherosclerosis and high cholesterol)
· diseases that weaken the body’s defense system (including AIDS and chronic
fatigue syndrome)
· Alzheimer’s disease, osteoarthritis, and Parkinson’s disease
· Glutathione is also used for maintaining the body’s defense system (immune
system) and fighting metal and drug poisoning.
Aside from the treatment of these diseases, glutathione is also present in the
building and repairing of tissues. It is also responsible for making the chemicals and
proteins that the body needs.

VI. Glutathione Skin Whitening

Glutathione is popular when used as a way to help whiten skin. Glutathione skin
whitening is growing in popularity, helping people achieve the skin pigmentation they
desire with no harmful side effects when taken in proper dosages. Administered
either topically using a Glutathione cream or as a skin whitening pill.

Glutathione skin whitening is growing in popularity, helping people achieve the skin
pigmentation they desire with no harmful side effects when taken in proper dosages.
Administered either topically using a Glutathione cream or as a skin whitening pill.
Glutathione pills help to whiten the skin in a couple of different ways. Melanin is the
pigment that gives our skin its color, produced by the activation of the enzyme
Tyrosinase. GSH binds to Tyrosinase and helps prevent the enzymatic pathways
from producing melanin. The second is a much more important role. GSH helps to
prevent the activation of Tyrosinase by reducing free radicals in the body that can
activate it and cause an increase in melanin production.

VII. Glutathione and Skin Health

By supplementing with a high quality Glutathione supplement, one containing Acetyl
Glutathione, L-Glutathione or Liposomal Glutathione, you can not only improve your
complexion, but improve the quality and health of your skin. Supplementing with a
top quality Glutathione pill can help to improve the health of every cell in the body,

4
particularly apparent in the skin, hair and nails. It helps in giving people a radiant
glow which is caused by healthy cells and reduced toxicity in the body.

Age spots can also be minimized and prevented by enhancing Glutathione levels in
the body. The anti-aging effects of Glutathione are remarkable, from complexion,
age spots and wrinkles, there is very little that won’t benefit from this master
antioxidant. Taking glutathione – whether orally, topically or intravenously – helps
boost the body’s capacity to create glutathione. Ideally, supplemental glutathione will
be absorbed by the blood stream and taken to the liver, which will then create natural
glutatione and export that to other cells.

VIII. Ways of glutathione intake:

Taking Glutathione ORALLY

A huge concern with taking glutathione orally is: absorption. The problem is that oral
glutathione is not as bio-available as glutathione injections because a lot of it gets
broken down in the stomach before it even has a chance to enter the bloodstream.
This is why liposomal glutathione is recommended, which allows the glutathione to
bypass the digestive system and enter the bloodstream, making it as effective as an
IV but much cheaper. Liposomal glutathione comes in liquid form.

Using Glutathione TOPICALLY

The advantage of topical glutathione creams, lotions and soaps is that it allows
glutathione to be delivered immediately into the skin, bypassing any digestion of the
gastro-intestinal tract since most of what’s applied to the skin is absorbed straight
into the bloodstream.

Getting Glutathione INJECTIONS

Getting Glutathione injections is the best way of skin lightening by glutathione but
since it sounds a little aggressive; I won’t be explaining anything regarding this topic.

IX. N Acetyl Cysteine

The discovery of the acetyl Glutathione form has made this antioxidant easily
accessible for oral supplementation.

Anti Aging Benefits of N Acetyl Cysteine

N Acetyl Cysteine helps rid the body of harmful free radicals and peroxides, these
substances build up naturally as we age.Supplement N Acetyl Cysteine to improve
cognitive function, rid the neural system of harmful toxins that cause
neurodegenerative diseases. Improve cell health in the liver and skin, improving the
look of your skin, hair, nails and eyes.

2. Production of glutathione soaps on a small scale:

To begin with, glutathione is present in almost all living cells. It has the distinction of
being able to regulate the action of the so-called ’lesser antioxidants.’ However,
despite its well-known health benefits, many people remain extremely hesitant to
take glutathione as an oral supplement. They would rather apply it directly on their

5
skin—thus giving rise to many glutathione-containing products for external use,
particularly bathing soap.

PROCEDURE 1:
To make glutathione herbal soap, we will need:
· a pail( bucket),
· spatula,
· an electric hand mixer,
· scraper,
· small containers,
· 13.2-inch by 16.7-inch mold, which would be used to shape a long bar that
could be cut up into 60 individual bars of soap.
(If we can’t find a mold of this size, we may improvise by making our own.)

Ingredients:
· 60 ml titanium dioxide solution -prepared by ourselves
· 60 ml sodium silicate
· 3 ml anti-bacterial liquid
· 3 ml preservative (phenoxy ethanol)
· 60 ml moisturizer (castor oil)
· 60 ml cocodiethanolamide (CDEA)
· 3.2 liters lye solution (caustic soda)
· 60 ml evaporated milk
· 6 kg coconut oil (cooking oil)
· 12 pieces glutathione capsules
· 100 ml fragrance
· 60 ml apple extract -prepared by ourselves
· 4 liters distilled water

Some of the ingredients can be prepared ourselves:

· Titanium dioxide solution:
Since titanium dioxide is sold in powder form, we need to dissolve it in water to come
up with the required solution. Specifically, we need to dissolve 60 grams of titanium
dioxide in 1.5 liters of water. Although we can also use tap water, it is advisable to
use distilled water to prevent contamination.

· Lye solution (Sodium Hydroxide solution):

Since caustic soda is sold in powder form, we need to dissolve it in water to come up
with the required solution.Specifically, we need to dissolve 1 kilo of caustic soda in
2.5 liters of water. Although we can also use tap water, it is advisable to use distilled
water to prevent contamination.

· Apple extract:
To produce the apple extract, cut up one apple and use a blender to crush it. Strain
the extract using a piece of cheesecloth to remove impurities.

6
These need to be kept separately and labelled side these are base materials for the
soap.

Procedure

· Remove the glutathione powder from the capsules, and then mix it with the
coconut oil in a bucket until the powder is fully dissolved.

· Pour the following ingredients into the mix in the following order:
Sodium silicate,
CDEA,
Moisturizer,
Apple extract,
Milk,
Titanium dioxide,
Preservative,
The anti-bacterial liquid,
Fragrance
(If the ingredients are not added in this order, the texture of the soap may end up
rough)
Mix these thoroughly using a hand mixer. (We may also add to other natural
ingredients, such as honey, papaya, and vitamin E-rich fruit.)

· Gradually pouring the lye solution into the mixture, mixing continuously in one
direction. Changing the direction when mixing will create swirls or a cloudy
7
effect on the soap. After adding the lye solution, we may notice a change in
color and consistency of the mixture. Continue mixing until the consistency
becomes like that of condensed milk; the mixture gets finer as we continue to
mix. Make sure to mix the mixture well enough; otherwise, the soap will feel
rough and itchy on the skin.
· Now pour the mixture into the mold (frame). Beforehand, make sure that its
hollow parts are covered with plastic cutouts so the soap will not stick to the
mold and it can easily be removed later. Using a scraper, level and smoothen
the top portion of the soap. Once it becomes smooth, set it aside for five
hours to cure.

After some time, we may notice changes in the color of the soap. Heat will also be
released by the soap. These are both signs that the soap is hardening. Even if the
soap has already hardened after five hours, we don’t remove it from the mold until
the following day, when it has completely cooled down. Cut the long bar into
approximately 60 pieces. Smoothen the edges of the soap. Store all the soaps for at
least 24 hours.

Glutathione herbal soap remains in the best condition for use from 1 to 1.5 years.
Herbal soaps that are more ideal for use eight months to a year after those are made
as during that stage, the items are very well cured. After about a year, because the
extracts drip in the form of moisture, herbal soaps may shrink naturally by some 5
grams. In comparison, chemical-based soaps, because they use preservatives, may
remain hard and last longer.

Finishing touches

8
For packaging, we wrap soap in clear plastic (or a packet designed by a
prodessional) and label it properly.
The price of a 130-gram bar of glutathione herbal soap in the market can range from
Rs.250 to Rs. 350.
While we may use this price range to sell individual bars, opting to lower the price for
wholesale buyers can benefit us.

For this project, use of the active white glutathione capsule imported to Nepal will be
the best. Each capsule contains corn, yeast, wheat, soy, rice, barley, lactose, citrus,
milk, fish, and egg products. Other brands may also be used so long as they are
registered with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Things to be considered:
· Measuring of ingredients accurately and precisely.
· Emptying the containers thoroughly so we don’t waste anything.
· Avoiding contact with the soap mixture before and during the curing and
hardening period.

This method is time consuming and requires a lot of attention. Slightest error in
measurement can lead to the final product becoming more acidic or alkaline than
needed which can irritate the consumer. Even the number of soap bars produced
might be less than the estimated. So an alternative method can be applied as well.

Alternative method:
PROCEDURE 2:

9
Readymade soap noodles made of organic coconut oil can be imported from India
and turned into fine flakes. In this method, only the unique extracts and chemicals
need to be added and the soap bases like coconut oil, titanium oxide, sodium silicate
and water are not required. This will make the processing alot easier and lower the
production costs. One time investsments such as machinery required are:

Mixing Machine:
Soap noodles along with selected extracts can be mixed in this machine. Firstly,
glutathione needs to be added. Soap noodles equivalent to the amount of soap base
used in the abovementioned method can be mixed with essential oils like castor oil
and extracts like milk, anti-bacterial liquid, preservatives, CDEA, apple extract and
fragrance.

Soap Plodder(Extruder):
A Soap Plodder is an extruder with features suitable for the soap manufacture. The
resulting mixture from mixing machine is now given a long rectangular shape which
needs to be cut into smaller bars and passed to stamping machine.

Soap Stamping and Shaping machine:

For startup, a manual machine can be used which includes Soap stamping and Soap
shaping. A manual soap shaping and stamping machine at Hostility Machinery &
Chemicals Suppliers, Teku costs Rs. 85,000.

Side Effects & Safety

Startup Cost will be around Rs. 15 lakhs to Rs. 25 lakhs.

Working Capital

12
The main working capital expenditure for a soap manufacturing unit is raw material,
salaries and wages, power cost and receivables. Raw material to the tune of Rs. 4
lakhs must be on-stock for operating a soap manufacturing company smoothly, with
additional working capital requirement of Rs.2 to 3 lakhs required for other
expenditures.

5. LEGAL MATTER
I recommend for the soap manufacturing business to be setup as a Private Limited
company as the investment in plant and machinery and the average annual turnover
would be in excess of Rs.25 lakhs. Further, having a private limited company form of
business would ensure that the company has easy access to bank loans and is
transferable in the future.

In addition to the business registration, VAT registration would be required for the
company. It is important to obtain trademark registration under a unique brand name.

We must obtain patent rights for Glutathione and some unique fragrances that will be
used in our product so that any other company in Nepal does not get to use
Glutathione in their products.

6. CONTRACT TERMS:
The total production and management costs mentioned above will be invested by a
person or any organization.
· I will be one of the founders of the company.
· I will have a certain percentage in the profit made of the company.
· The staff will be managed and projects will be operated by me.
· I will have the postion as a shareholder as well as Cheif Executive Officer in
the company.
· I will appoint a Financial Officer once the company starts operation.
· The company registration name and product name can be negotiated.

7. BENEFITS:
l The Nepali market has never seen this kind of product, so possibility of
competetion for a share of the market is not even a thing.
l Advertisement is crucial for the product to sell because of it's price. If the
people are made to grasp the idea of glutathione, the product will sell
satisfactorily.
l Aside from whitening, glutathione can also micro-exfoliate the skin. It is better
known as skin peeling. Skin peeling removes dead and dull skin cells. This
will rise up the new cells that are much softer and fairer. Micro-exfoliation
also helps in treating acne, pimple scars, freckles, dark spots, and uneven
skin tone.
l Glutathione soap naturally has anti-aging and antioxidant properties. It is
beneficial to anyone using it, especially older people. Their skin can also be
more fair and firm at the same time.
l It helps Lightening of dark spots, hyperpigmentation and scars, improves
texture of the skin.

13
l Product can be advertised as safe for all age groups and all skin types with
guaranteed results, so despite the price it is sound to assume product will
catch on the market fast.
