EVALUATION AND FORECASTING DECOKING

1. Trend VF-211 (Furnace)

By simulation of KT’s Engineer, differential pressure (DP) VF-211 when the furnace clean is
0.98 barg, and our decoking has DP when clean is 0.95 barg. It’s indiaction decoking done
successfully.
Figure 1.1. Monitoring and Forecasting VF-211

Based on historical data, trend of differential pressure (DP) of furnace (VF-211) was
increasing dp / 10 ton = 0.13 barg and increasing by day = 0.0079 barg (each productivity has
difference increasing per day, so it use average per day in the same productivity = 0.0079 barg).
For Forecasting purpose, we have three scenario with limitation DP in the furnace is 3.00
barg, as shown in the table 1.1. :
Trend Color Noted Estimation Decoking Total Production (Ton)
Green Line 365-355-345-335-325 TPD Jan, 01 2021 108.132
(Reduction 10 Ton per 2
month) → Current Productivity
Blue Line Consistent 340 TPD until Dec, 04 2020 98.622
decoking
Purple Line 365-350-340-330-320-310 Jan, 31 2021 116.192
TPD

Based on, simulation above, we recommendation use purple line trend (365-365-350-350-
340-340-330-330-320-320-310 TPD), with decoking due date on Jan, 31 2021.

2. Efficiency of Furnace (VF-211)

Figure 2.1. Efficiency Furnace Trend

The curve shows a slight decrease in furnace efficiency due to an increase total heat
supply to the furnace (red line) but decrease total heat absorbed by the furnace (blue line), causing
total losses to be greater (indicated in the yellow shading). For normal operation, so it can be
assumed that the addition of coke causes the total absorbed for the process to slightly decrease. This
is what underlies the decrease in productivity from 365 TPD to 350 TPD, following the scenario of
Figure 1.1. follow the purple line so that the furnace can last until Jan, 31 2021.
