MEAD Where I’m From
Hello my name is Mackenzie Mead. I was born an raised in
America's finest city, better known as San diego California. More specifically in what is know as east county. I was never more than 20 to 25 min from the beach, unless I hit rush hour traffic. I spent my childhood almost always outdoors, in the perfect 70s degrees weather. A few of my favorite places to visit were the beach/bay, sea world, the world famous San Diego Zoo/ Wild Animal Park, and the Padres Stadium better known as Petco Park. One of the things I miss the most by far is the food! Being that San diego borders mexico, you can find the best mexican food around! It was such an amazing place to grow up, and I recommend visiting if you have never been! Get To Know Me A Bit Better! ● I’m 23 years young born March 22, 1997 ● I’m the oldest of 2; my sister is is 17, and a senior in highschool. ● I was born and raised in San diego. ● After high school I attended a year of community college, then I moved to Las Vegas to continue my education. ● I took two years off for financial reasons but now I’m back for my last semester at CSN before I transfer to UNLV. ● I’m an education major who hopes to teach middle school history. Friends & Family My friends and family are the most important people in my life. Each one of them has taught me so much about the world; an I would not be the women I am today, without them. Here are a few pictures of my parents, grandparents, sister, bestfriend, boyfriend, and his family. Hobbies My newest hobby is simply hanging out with my dog Buddy! A year ago my boyfriend and I were leaving our house when dog covered in hair crossed our path. He had so much that it made it hard for him to see, and we barely missed him with my car. We decided to bring him home, and later found out he wasn’t chipped. We were given two options keep him or take him to the pound. As you can see we decided to keep him. It has been the best decision we have ever made as a couple. We named him Buddy J. Mead, and he has brought so much light into our lives. Hobbies Continued My next passion is cooking. I started cooking with my grandparents at the age of 12, and I quickly fell in love. It is such a passion of mine that, I almost decided to make a career out of it. However, after much thought I decided against it. I find cooking very relaxing and I feel cooking as a job would be very stressful. Also; to make it in the high end restaurant is very hard, especially with the pandemic. 65% of the food and drink industry has had either a freeze or layoff. I continue to cook for my friends, an family, and love hosting dinner parties. Hobbies Continued The last of my three favorite hobbies is traveling. This hobby is why, I now want to be a history teacher. It all goes back to my 7th grade world history teacher. She traveled to every place we learned about in her class. Her room was decorated with things she had brought back with her. She would also show us pictures at the paces we would read about. From that moment on I was hooked. I wanted to visit the places I learned about! My junior year; I had the opportunity to join the senior class on there class trip, to Costa Rica. It would be the first time I would get to leave the country. I fundraised the entire trip by selling cupcakes with my grandma outside her house, and even brought spending money. After we returned; the teacher who chaperoned us was so impressed, she asked if I wanted to make a travel club. She made me president, and I planned a trip to europe the following year! I have now been to 6 different countries; Costa Rica, France, the UK, Italy, Spain, and of course Mexico. My dream is to keep traveling; inspire my students to love history, and go see it for themselves. Goals In conclusion I have many goals I am determined to accomplish. None of them would come true without the love and support of my family. I hope to soon graduate from CSN and transfer to UNLV. I want to obtain my bachelors in Secondary Education with an emphasis in history. I want to continue to travel once this pandemic has lifted, so I can continue following my dreams of seeing history in person. I want to have a class room where I can inspire my students to get out and see the world. I’m so excited for what the future holds, wish me luck! Thank you!
