INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS OF MOSFET’s

(Reaction Paper)

The webinar last July 16, 2021 which is titled “Industrial Application of Mosfet’s” was
very well explained by our speaker, a Test Engineering Analyst of Accenture Cebu, no other
than Engr. Andrew S. Salido. With the help of his Power point, we learned a lot on what is
Mosfet and what is its big rule in our electronics industries in terms of control systems in our
high-tech gadgets today like cellphones, smart Tv and other electronic equipment and
machineries. During the webinar I’ve learned the history of the Mosfet and where it all started.
Mosfet has many applications in electronic industries such as switching application in an
electronic device, used in amplifying circuits, chopper circuit, voltage regulator circuits, inverter,
passive element (resistor and inductor of circuit), switch mode power supply, DC motors, DC
relays and Digital circuits as will. In Power Management Applications, it is being used in battery
applications where conserving energy is critical like cell phones and in DC-DC/AC-DC voltage
converters applications, it serves as a controller switches (ON-OFF) to produce pulsed voltage
and filters smooth pulses to provide a different DC voltage. In motor applications, it serves as the
control module switches (ON-OFF) to drive the motor and to control its speed, direction and
position. During the webinar of Engr. Salido, he also shares that their product will undergo many
testing like semiconductor testing which is a process of testing a semiconductor device to check
if they are manufactured or behaving accordingly to the specifications guaranteed by the
manufacturers. The overall webinar was full of learnings, even though it’s not more on
Mechanical Engineering field rather than Electrical engineering but we can use it in our future
applications in life and jobs.
