EXERCISE NO. 4

Instructions: Explain the steps when using the following commands and explain also when to
use each. Express your answers in your own words based on your understanding.

1. Centerline
➢ Select sketch, drop down line, choose centerline, click to your drawing or plane if
you are just started with your drawing, then drag to your desired length and click
to create center line.
➢ It can used as guide on your drawing and it is very comfortable to use centerline
specially, when you are doing complicated project or it involves many parts.

2. Dynamic Mirror
➢ It is easier when you have to search the command on the search bar, then select a
reference line to your sketch it can be a normal line or centerline then start your
drawing.
➢ It allows us to mirror our sketch about our reference line. And also, it can be used
to ensure that our sketch is symmetric.

3. Mid Plane Extrusion

➢ Create a sketch, click any extruded tools, on the left side of your screen a property
manager option appears, then set to midplane so that the reference of your
extrusion is in the middle of the plane.
➢ It allows us to create an extrusion with our sketch plane center.

4. View Normal To
➢ You can simply click a plane or 2 faces of an object then there is an option appear
and click the heads-up view then your object will flip to the first surface you have
selected and 2nd face you have selected is in the top view.
➢ It can be used to orient your model normal to the nearest global XYZ coordinates.

5. Circles
➢ Click sketch entity, select circle tools, click a plane or surface for the first point of
your circle then drag to your desired radius or diameter and click again to
complete the circle and change the properties of your sketch on the left side your
screen on the property manager.
➢ It allows us to create a perfect circle.

6. Extruding Up To Next
➢ Create a sketch, click extrusion tools, on the left side of your screen a property
manager option appears, then set the Extrusion to Up to Next.
➢ This will allow us to extrude perfectly a part up to the next object without putting
any dimensions.
7. Offset Entities
➢ Click offset entities on the tool bar and in an open sketch select one or more
sketch entities then set the properties on the property manager on the left side of
the screen.
➢ Offset entities are used to have an identical sketch which is larger or smaller to
the original one.

8. Power Trim
➢ Click trim entities, in the property manager under option, select Power Trim.
Click on the sketch and drag across the sketch to be trim.
➢ It allows us to cut all the sketch entities through their intersections that are not
necessary in the drawing.

9. Extrude Cut (Offset from Surface)

➢ Create a sketch, click extrude cut in the tool bar, on the left side of your screen a
property manager option appears, then set to offset from surface and change the
other properties.
➢ It allows us to cut a shape in you object or part with a certain distance from a
surface to the end of your cut.

10. Select Other

➢ Right click the model, choose select other, and the pointer changes to and a box
appear (faces, edges, subassemblies, etc.)
➢ It is used when you need to select a surface which you can’t see on the front, and
by this tool you can select it without rotating your model.

11. Measure
➢ Click Measure, select a vertex or sketch point then the X, Y and Z coordinates are
displayed.
➢ It is used to specify custom measurement units and precisions.
