Overview
Blood is the fluid that circulates in the cardiovascular system. It is considered by many
histologists as a form of loose connective tissue that consists of cellular elements known as the
formed elements which are suspended in a fluid intercellular substance or matrix called plasma.
The formed elements include red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets.
