TRADE OVERVIEW
Crash fire rescue is one of the most aggressive firefighting disciplines requiring courage and professionalism.
RAF Fire-fighters form a component part of the Force Protection recuperation element for Defence when
operating both in the UK and overseas. As part of a close knit team, you can be deployed within short time
frames to any location worldwide using limited resources to offer a multitude of fire prevention/protection duties to
meet Defence requirements. You will receive exceptional training to ensure you are adequately prepared to
respond and resolve incidents involving aircraft, buildings, vehicles, hazardous substances and incidents caused
by hostile activities. In addition, you may also have the opportunity to gain fire prevention qualifications to ensure
you can provide MOD personnel a safe and secure environment.

Your career will start with a 10-week Basic Recruit Training
Course at RAF Halton in Buckinghamshire. The course is REGULAR ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
designed to help you adjust to a military environment. As well
as fitness and military training, you will also learn about the Fire-fighter
RAF lifestyle.

SPECIALIST TRAINING *(Must attest before 48 birthday)
The 14 weeks phase 2 specialist Fire-fighter training course
takes place at the Defence Fire Training & Development Qualifications:
Centre Manston in Kent, where you will be enrolled on to You must have a minimum of GCSE at Grade C

YOUR FIRST TOUR


For your first tour you will be posted to one of eight UK RAF
bases where you’ll work as part of a tight-knit team, on call
