51. The passage below gives a story told by Mubiru Akram about his first
visit to Kampala in the first term holiday.
On one Saturday morning, Mubiru set off a journey with his father who drove
him in a salon car. From Jinja to kampala was the most enjoyable journey Mubiru
made in his life. The road was busy and the vehicles were observed in queues.
The movement was a baby’s trial of walk. One step at a go as they were controlled
by traffic officers dressed in white uniforms. Traffic lights at every close point on
the road. Pedestrians seemed to be faster than the motorists because they are
neither controlled by traffic officers and nor by traffic lights. But they must cross
from the zebra crossing.

Pee pee, whistles blow, they are stopping and setting off the stationary vehicles.
“The jam has been heavy today,” said the father. This was for about an hour from
home to reach town.
Finally they reached, Akram wanted to observe what the teacher of English Mr.
Mumpe Nicholas had taught in the topic of “Road safety and traffic dangers.”
Surprisingly, his father bought for him sneakers. He will use them in term two.
