ABOUT SEX THAN EVER BEFORE
New research by Replens™ has found that half
(48%) of UK adults over 60 feel more confident in
their sexual relationships than ever before, with one
in five (19%) revealing they are much more confident
now than when they were younger.
The Flames of Sex and Intimacy survey, conducted
by OnePoll, quizzed 1200 people aged 60 and above
about their sex lives. The report discovered that:
+ 39% of adults aged 60 or over say sex continues to
be an important part of their relationships
45% say they are more at ease with sex and
intimacy with the passing years, with 22% describing
themselves as much more at ease
Sex and relationships expert Tracey Cox adds,
“Very few 60-year-olds are stepping back from a
lusty life and heading outside to the garden. They're
continuing to enjoy a healthy, fulfilled sex life - and
will do for many years on. Today's post 60's, are the
Baby Boomers. They're affluent, educated and tend
to have a positive view of the world, It makes sense
that they feel younger and are less inclined to
consider themselves ‘past it’. They're the sex and
rock'n'roll generation: hedonists who aren't afraid to
push boundaries.”
Tracey continues,
“There's a confidence that comes with age and
experience. You worry less about what people think,
you know your body and your sexual triggers and
you're not afraid to ask for what you want. The older
you are, the less likely you are to worry your partner
ight judge you for asking for something a little
risqué. Lots of mid-lifers are more sexually
adventurous than they've ever been. Sex and
intimacy keep you young - and this is why
campaigns like ‘Sex Never Gets Old’ are so
important. Couples who have regular sex feel more
connected to their partner and rate their relationship
happiness much higher than couples who don't.
keeps us happy, it keeps us close, why on earth
would we want to let sex or intimacy disappear from
our lives?”
So as part of the Flames of Sex and Intimacy survey
Replens™ also delved into the way the over-60s feel
they are seen by society as a whole.
More than half (53%) of those surveyed believe
society has a negative view of people of their age
enjoying sex and intimacy, while 65% say they fee!
underrepresented in advertising. Tracey comments,
“Who decided sex was only for the young? The type
of sex you have when you're older might not look like
the sex you had in your 20s but it's just as enjoyable.
Young sex isn’t better sex, it's just different sex. Lots
of older couples rate sex as more satisfying as they
get older. This campaign is both pertinent and
important. | think advertisers and the media are
missing a trick to make 65% of over 60s feel
underrepresented. This generation aren't the
wallflowers of society. They're big consumers, they
have money to spend and they're keen to maintain
an attractive appearance and persona. They're a vital
and important part of society which should be
reflected positively in the media. Western society
could learn a thing or two from the Eastern cultures
who respect the older generation and see them as a
source of great wisdom.”
In fact, just 5% feel seen in a positive light and only
9% disagree with the suggestion that their age group
is under-represented. Photographer, Allan Mestel,
who worked on the campaign says,
Advertising generally glorifies the physical perfection
of youth and treats ageing as a process to be fought
and disguised. The images we created for this
campaign celebrate ageing and reinforce the fact
that the flames of sex, intimacy and passion burn
just as intensely in our later years as they do in our
youth."
32Benefits of
Simple Living
aA aioe we think about simple living, we have a tendency to give attention to things
we can easily see. We think about decluttering and celebrate clear countertops and
tidy desks, yet this is just the start of simplicity.
The most rewarding benefits of simple living aren’t always visible, and can appear just a
little vague until experienced. Once evident though, they can be truly life-changing.
7 invisible yet rewarding aspects of living simply
1. Under-reacting
Asimpler life permits us to look more closely at our response. When things are too active
and complicated, we get lost in a reactionary lifestyle. We say things we don’t mean and
blow things completely out of proportion. Whenever we contemplate before responding,
we can answer properly from a thought ice, rather than a fight or flight mentality.
2. Lifestyle
When we reduce commitments and ol and eliminate common stressors like
tionships, we've allowed ourselves
to take better attention of our core. ime to take a nap or for writing and
eing creative, space for meditation, OF p Straightforward practice of gratitude.
formation, it’s easy tomet6. Increased freedom
Whenever we aren't tied to technology, engaged in overreacting or feeling unfulfilled
and tired, we feel the joys of freedom. We make smarter decisions, and enjoy lives
we've wished for. Instead of aiming to live up to a typical path that someone else set
for us, we are free to be exactly who we are. That's freedom.
7. Benevolence
When we free up resources, need less to be happy, and also have the time to think
about what we care about the most, we are simply more loving, caring and giving.
These unseen benefits of simple living become completely tangible, and they are the
secret behind being more with less. Only a taste of the inner workings of a simpler life
inspires us to go after even more simplicity. We naturally want less of the meaningless
products and even more of what really matters.

CORONAVIRUSMeet the #InstaGardeners
@allotment.fight.clubThings just got serious.
Normally, the first rule
of @Allotment.Fight.Club is that you do not
talk about @Allotment.Fight.Club.
‘Somehow, we have persuaded its narrator to
talk.
In return for some inside thoughts from the
entertaining Instagram account, we have
agreed not to reveal his identity. From now on,
he will be referred to only as Tyler.
Tyler has had to fight for everything on his
allotment. But he seems to enjoy that. After all,
how much can you know about yourself, if
you've never been in a fight?
Just to even acquire his plot took five and a
half years. He then discovered bindweed,
collapsed fencing and a slope that tested even
his finely trained back. Other battles included
rescuing a strawberry patch, picking cherries
and, perhaps his first major victory, planting
runner beans.
“I took on my allotment back in May 2019 after
fighting my way to the top of a 5 year waiting
list! It was heavily overgrown at the start and
my initial battles were against the bindweed
and brambles that had taken over the plot,”
Tyler explains.
‘Subsequent fights have
included battling
pensioners for free council
woodchip, dealing with
giant spiders and taking
‘on man flu. He came
through the vast majority,
to successfully plant a
wide array of plants, from
Rhubarb to Crocuses, and
attract 3500 supporters.
“Since those early days
I've had my fair share of
vegetable growing
success (potatoes,
cauliflowers, parsnips,
runner beans) mixed in
with some epic
failures...mostly due to the
activities of the monster
sized snails and slugs who
inhabit my plot and feast
on my seediings!” Tyler added.
Who else would we ask next to give our Green
Tones planters a test of their own?
“The first thing that struck me about the pots
was the vibrant colours, which | love. Life is far
too short to be dull,” insists Tyler.
But will they be able to last the distance? It
seems so:
“They feel nice and firm, so will stand up to a
bit of rough handling by my mini-allotment
fight clubbers”
The allotment fight club has one of the best
views we have seen. It overlooks Cardiff Bay,
the Millenium Stadium and the Millenium
Centre. That is all we can say about its
location,
It seems our eco-friendly pots will be made to
feel welcome there.
“Itis great to hear that Green Tones pots are
made using recycled bamboo. | am hoping this
will help me achieve my dream of encouraging
Pandas to visit! They will be ideal for potting
up my chilli seedlings and growing herbs all
year round,” Tyler finished.

‘Opportunity and representation have always been
lacking in the film industry. Whilst Vilma has been
building a career performing on screen and stage,
she is aware that the lack of opportunity and
mainstream attention towards the Deaf
‘community, plus the lack of representation of the
Black members of the Deaf community does
require acknowledgment, debate, and action.
‘The Vilma Jackson Show’ is filmed in two
episodes. The first was released on March 11 and
highlights the talent within the hearing and Deaf
‘community, and the barriers to their progress
within various industries. The second will be
released later in March 2021 and addresses the
wider debate around diversity, inclusion, and
‘equality to highlight that these issues do not only
apply to the Hearing world; they run deep into the
Deaf community and every corner of our society.
Vilma said, “This project is incredibly personal to
me and | am so proud to be able to share it with
the world.”
“Iam Black, Deaf, and a woman. Each of these on

42This isn't God's first attempt at creation.
A new comic fantasy reveals all...
EON
BERIGIN
Comedy writer Craig
Meighan, tired of having
to be creative with the
truth to support the
government's dubious
political agendas, took
his wife’s advice and
quit the Civil Service to
be creative with fiction
instead.
A satire on bureaucracy, it
imagines the Biblical Genesis
story as God's seventh and
final attempt to get his
creation right. But what
happened to the previous six
universes? They still exist
and one unlucky government
worker accidentally gets
transported to the first and
must find his way home
through each of them, which
could have apocalyptic
consequences for all seven
universes and God himself.
Craig Meighan had written for
short films, radio jokes and
stand-up comedy but hadn't
been making a career in it. He
joined the civil service and
initially enjoyed it, but three
governments, 4 Prime
Ministers and 12 years later, he
found himself in the odd
position of working very hard
to achieve things that were the
exact opposite of his moral
beliefs.
The decisive moment came
when he received an
existentially terrifying pension
statement that suggested he'd
have a further 38 punishing
years until retirement. Afraid
that he'd be stuck in the job
forever, he told his wife Jen
that he felt like he was wasting
valuable time.
Craig says: “My retirement age
was projected at 71. | checked
my life expectancy and,
because I'm from a
predominantly working class
bit of Scotland, that was
projected at 68! | had a better
chance of dying during a zoom
call about welfare policy than |
did of enjoying a retirement.
Jen asked what | wanted to do
with my life and I told her what
she already knew, that |
wanted to be a writer. She
asked the killer question,
which was, ‘Why aren't you
‘trying to do it?” | didn’t have a
good answer. She read my
work and told me that she
believed I was good enough to
write professionally, that |
would always regret it if | didn't
give it my full undivided
attention to see where it could
take me and that | should quit
my job and just write. If | was
no further forward after a year,
| could go and get an office job
again and at least I'd know
that I'd tried. The next day |
handed in my notice to the job
I'd held for 12 years. When
someone shows that level of
support to your dream, you
have to give it everything. You
owe them 100% effort.”
Craig finished his book and
submitted it to various
publishers. Peter Buck,
Editorial Director of Elsewhen
Press takes up the story: “As
soon as we read it, we knew
we'd love to publish it. The
combination of fantasy, satire,
and playing with the creation
mythos, was irresistible. If you
can imagine Hitchhiker's in the
style of Pulp Fiction, you'll
understand why we were
hooked right away. We asked
Craig which of the characters
in the book were inspired by
the ministers that he had
worked for, but he wouldn't tell
us. The pandemic has delayed
our publication schedule but
we're delighted that we can
now share Craig's book with
readers, and they can try to
guess for themselves.”
Craig adds: “Sometimes it's all
you need: one person to show
‘some belief in your abilities,
‘one person to back you. It's
nice to repay that faith, even if
how you repay it is to write a
book which features a sentient
almond. | now spend most of
my week writing fiction and |
am 6000% happier than | was
before. So Jen’s support has
