Worked on computer until 8:30 then went down to Environmental Services where, David,
one of the EVS supervisors took me to third floor medical to shadow with Mrs. Jacqueline from
8:40-12:00. She did mostly active patient room cleaning, where she went in and only did touch
up cleaning for them. We had one full discharge clean that I was able to observe. At noon we
stopped for lunch for 30 minutes. I went back to my desk and ate lunch while I began to write
down all my observations that must be addressed by infection prevention and EVS along with
the hospital as a whole. At 12:35 I met back up with Mrs. Jackie and continued observing her
until around 3:30. I stopped by Maggie and Krystle’s office to report back to her about my day,
and then went back up to my office around 4 and left for the day. 8hrs 27mins
Today I was in Outpatient with Lanora. I met with David around 7:45 and he took me up
to Outpatient care where we had 28 surgeries scheduled for today. I followed her and another
nice lady from EVS, who agreed to help with the high volume of patients, from 8am-12pm. At
noon I had to go get a TB blood work-up done and that took a while due to the high volume of
surgeries they had today. After my blood work I went down to Krystle’s office where I got PPE
certified and then helped with setting up and re-training donning and doffing with covid contact
employees from 1pm-2:30pm and then helped her clean up. I went back up to my office where
Maria asked Elizabeth and I to help set up classroom A for an HR class/training exercise
watched her clean staff facilities then watched her clean the C-Section OR after a procedure,
which was very interesting to watch. Kim and I worked past the lunch hour due to the couple of
discharges from LND so we only had a 20 minute lunch break from 1:25-1:45. I then went back
to Labor and Delivery and Mother Baby where I worked from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and then
I got in at 7:21 this morning and dropped my stuff off like I always do then headed down
to EVS to meet David. I observed as David and two other men on the EVS team terminal cleaned
the new ORs from 8:00am-9:30am. David then took me to the Emergency Department where I
observed Irma from 9:30am to 12:00. I had a working lunch meeting with Elizabeth and Maria
from 12:15pm to 1:00pm. I then headed to my office where I worked on the computer writing
my findings and things that need to be addressed in my project from 1:00pm to 4pm. I then
I came in and sat at my desk and checked my email until 7:45 then headed down to
Classroom A for the EJCH Care Transformation & Culture Retreat. In this retreat we were
shown the patient surveys and the data out of those surveys. We were then given reasons why
rankings might be what they are and the correlations between the different reasons. We received
our ADIETH certification so that we could better interact with patients allowing for better
scores. The meeting went from 7:45am until 3:00pm. Maria let us go an hour early due to it
being Friday and having been sitting for the last 7 hours. I will regain this hour at a later date
Being able to shadow the different floors and see the actual process of the EVS staff
helped tremendously in identifying the issues within their system. I got a lot of good data that
needs to be addressed and concluded the key issue that EJCH is having when it comes to
cleaning protocols and their EVS staff. I am looking forward to helping them grow forward and
