The following image shows the changes in methylation pattern with age in identical twins
1. Explain the reason for yellow coloration if the methylation pattern is the same in the two
twins. [3]

Different cells have their own methylation pattern so that a unique set of proteins will be
produced in order for that cell to perform its function. The color yellow shows where the twins
have epigenetic tags in the same place.

2. Identify the chromosome with the least changes as twins age. [1]

3. Identify the chromosome with the most changes as twins age. [1]
4. Explain how these differences could arise. [3]
5. Predict with a reason whether identical twins will become more or less similar to each other
in their characteristics a they grow older. [2]
