The Mock OSCE scenario part is made up of three stations: Ongoing Assessment, Implementing Care
and Ongoing Care. The instructions and available resources are provided for each station, along with
the specific timing.
SCENARIO: THE CASE OF CARDO

A 30-year-old motorcycle rider, was seen in the roadside enduring

injuries from an accident. He is sitting still and says that he is just driving
down the road when somebody turned left and pulled out in front. He lost
control and had no time to react. In addition, he admitted that he had two
shots of liquor and that he is about to grab more bottles for the family
celebration. He insisted that he was very careful on the road. Suddenly,
he stopped narrating and tried to gather himself up. Realizing that he
couldn’t move with ease, he now assumes a comfortable position and
tries to assess his own condition. After a quick scan of himself, he now complains of pain.

Another witness on the scene is already contacting an EMS but announced that she is having
difficulty reaching the hotline. “Poor signal reception”, she exclaims.

Good thing the patient is conscious and able to respond to questions. While waiting, it was an
opportunity to further assess the patient’s condition. One cannot miss that he has road rashes in
the upper and lower extremities after sliding across the pavement. Along with it, it is also evident
that he will need stitches for the deep laceration located in the anterior aspect, middle third of his
left thigh. The same happened on his right leg. Apart from other parts have abrasions, these are
the areas with deep affectation. Moving on with other possible injury, he was asked to move both
arms upwards. Upon attempt, he shouts in pain and cannot proceed. Limitation of movement was
observed on the right shoulder and arm. He now expresses his concern on possible infection,
problems in mobilization and healing.
