In the future, how are you going to use authentic assessment in teaching students especially in this time

of pandemic? Give 5 authentic assessment and discuss in your own understanding. (Use first person in
discussing)/50

It will be a challenge for me to use authentic assessment during this time of pandemic because online
courses is now used and the learning objectives of it differs from those of face-to-face courses. I need to
prepare myself first and modify the things that I can do and the strategies or methods that I'm going to
inculcate in order for me to incorporate innovative things in my teaching. Since lessons and course
content is now being delivered online because of the pandemic, I'm going to use authentic assessment
online that provide opportunities to students taking the advantage of the peculiar use and
characteristics associated with the modern technology of today, but of course, considering the available
resources and location of the students. I'm going to use technologies for meaningful online purposes to
make my assessment more relevant, effective, and accurate. Since it is online, I'll also incorporate an
assessment where students are always reminded of the proper use of technology, set limitations and be
responsible of the actions that they make through online.

The Authentic Assessment that I'm going to use are the following:

Student-Created Media: Student-created media focuses on using various technologies to "create videos,
design websites, produce animations, virtual reconstructions, and create photographs."[13] In addition
to gaining valuable experience in working with a range of technologies, "students have also improved
their reading comprehension, writing skills, and their abilities to plan, analyze, and interpret results as
they progress through the media project."[13

Inquiry-Based Learning: Inquiry-based learning starts by posing questions, problems or scenarios rather
than simply presenting material to students. Students identify and research issues and questions to
develop their knowledge or solutions. Inquiry-based learning is generally used in field-work, case
studies, investigations, individual and group projects, and research projects.

Working with Research Data: Students collect their own data or use data collected from researchers to
conduct their own investigations.

A child who is learning about basic math skills can use his or her knowledge when assigned to run a
lemonade stand. Now, he or she can use subtraction to return change to customers and can practice the
skill. Suddenly, math is more than numbers on a page.
Students who are studying geology can go on a trip analyzing various sediments and reporting about
their impact on the land. Biology students may be given the chance to go snorkeling and make a
presentation on the issues of overfishing.

For example, is there an issue in a student's community that can use the concepts they are learning in
class?

Online Forums

I am going to use online forums, where students are allowed to post their ideas, thoughts, and opinions
relevant to the topic online that opens up for suggestions, feedbacks, and improvement and that it
promotes a sense of community, oneness, and connectedness among learners.

Video Quizzes

I will use video quizzes as an authentic assessment because it helps students appreciate and connect to
things that they needed to feel connected with.

Authentic Task

I will post a video and ask my students what they have learned from the video so far?

knowing the story, experiences, struggles, achievements, etc. of other people to get informations and
inspirations with as they try to relate it with the topic or lessons in the class.

Online Collaboration

I'll use this as an authentic assessment because students can collaborate with websites that allows
editing by users. This provides an opportunity for them to better understand the process of work in the
real world, where it can be viewed, criticized, and evaluated.

Peer Collaboration

Where students will have the opportunity to evaluate others work and received peer feedbacks and
suggestions. This helps promote good relationship and foster cooperation where in real-life situations,
we are evaluated by people whom we may consider as a friend or a boss at work.
Simulation

This allows learners to use their higher order thinking skills for more complex reasoning. I will use
simulations as an authentic assessment for it help students develop many aspects to become globally
competitive and be motivated through real-world, relevant events.

One discussion that is still luminous in my mind up until now was when I was in my 4th grade, where my
science teacher taught us the process on how to grow plants. My teacher in science started the
discussion by establishing a well defined, clear guidelines and instructions inside the class in order to be
safe and to pay attention as she discussed in results to having a smooth discussion and then excitingly
read us a short story, asking questions time to time. She delivered the lesson concisely, incorporating an
engaging students discussion as a strategy where I was able to articulate my own ideas, thoughts,
opinions and was able to analyzed the focal point of the topic being discussed. She also led her
discussion in a challenging way where I was asked challenging questions, wrote my answers on a piece
of paper she provided and synthesized learning by pair. It was also fascinating and exciting at the same
time because she brought potatoes as a model for her discussion and used a laptop that showed videos
on how to grow plants and the cause on why other plants failed to grow.

The traditional assessment used in the discussion was when I was answering a paper pen test and did
Think-pair-share activity. The authentic assessment used was a hands on activity where I get to
experienced planting potatoes into the containers with varieties of soil inside it and wanted us to do the
same activity at home to be observed for a couple of days.

I find the learning process interesting because I'm always curious as to how plants grow and my teacher
was able to gave us a clearer and better picture or model of what the discussion was gonna be. Engaging
and fun, because I was able to participate in the hands on activity where we used potatoes as a model.
Lastly, it was very inspiring and meaningful because at the end of the discussion, my teacher shared a
short message about the importance of growing plants, why we need to take care of them?and how
important it is to our lives? Then instructed us to do the same task at home to appreciate what I did to
the plants for it to grow healthily.

In the module, if I were to describe the picture, it simply shows children playing a native game which is
basically originated and popularly known as "luksong tinik" a native game in the Philippines. The playing
took place in the middle of the market, as you can see in the picture there are many people who are
doing different kinds of activities such as buying goods, watching the vendor wrapping the food, there
are people who gathered in one place, and mostly you can see the people standing. Despite the busy
market, the children are able to play happily with their friends and some of them were even running
from behind with a big smile on his face. Overall, the picture shows how happy the children are with
their friends while the older people are busy doing their thing within the market place.
