Languages in Canada and Mozambique

In Canada there two official languages: English and French. Nearly sixty percent of the
population speaks English as their home language. Twenty-four percent speak French. Some of
the other languages spoken are Arabic, Chinese, Dutch, German, Greek, Italian, Polish,
Portuguese, Punjabi, Ukrainian, and Vietnamese. In Mozambique there is only one official
language, Portuguese. Portuguese is the first language for most people in urban areas, and
especially in Maputo. Thirteen other languages are spoken in Mozambique, mostly in rural
areas. There also about 15 000 people who speak an Indian language and 7 000 who speak
Chinese. The most popular first language is Emakhuama (26, 1% of the population).
