Student performance

A study conducted by Eliasson and Lettieri (2009) states on their

research that the academic performance of students correlates with the

students bed time and wake time. The researchers conducted a

questionnaire-based survey, with students from a community college located

in Washington DC, a random rampling technique was used and it covered a

wide array of curriculum offerings. The data the researchers have gathered

states that students that slept earlier have the highest GPA ratings among

the others.

This study is further supported by a research conducted by

Edwards published in 2012, in where the researcher analyzed the effects of

daily start times of the school to the academic performance of the students.

A standarized test in math was employed by the researcher as his

instrument of data gathering among different middle schools with various

start times. The results shows how schools with later start times often had

better student performances compared to earlier ones.
