Between 345-321m descent rate is 24m/s,

It is almost identical with calculated value,
which is probe’s descent rate when heat
shield released. Heat shield release and
parachute deploy is simultaneous done in
our system we can check that by after
heat shield release descent rate of probe
decreases to 5m/s

(If You Want) Wind Sensor Data

We prepared our RF circuit (both receiver and transmitter) and wind

sensor, but unfortunalety our RF circuit malfunctioned. For wind sensor we have
case on Cansat.

Here Identification of Failures, Root
(If You Want)
Causes and Corrective Actions

• Failure : Camera did not worked.

• Root Cause : Camera is not stable. It was worked on our
tests.
• Corrective Action : More tests should be done.

• Failure : We got 1017 data packages but last package

count that we know is 1247. So that at least 230 data
packages did not received.
• Root Cause : Landing behind the woodland.

Lessons Learned

Alp Demirel

CanSat 2018 PFR: #4128 Team Cervos 29

Team Logo
Here
(If You Want) What Worked

• Heat shield is worked well. It deployed and released without

any problem. Also, we have made our heat shield very light
weight by using only one servo on it. It is fell to the ground but
it didn’t crashed.

• To avoid tumbling, we have added flaps, they worked and our

probe was incredibly stable, we can prove that by just looking
tilt data, on X and Y directions angle change is only ±20
degrees during descend. Seperation from the rocket causes
higher angle changes.
Judge
• Egg protection mechanism worked Probe
pretty as well. It is proved because
there was no damage on egg.

Presenter: Alp Demirel CanSat 2018 PFR: #4128 Team Cervos 30

(If You Want) What Worked (Cont.)

• Parachute deployment system is worked too. After

parachute deployed, probe’s speed was exactly what we
calculated.

• Data correction system worked well. We detected 62 error.

54 of them is FRAME error and 8 of them is CRC error. So
we didn’t include these incorrect values to our graphs.

• Audio beacon system is worked well and helped us to find

the probe which means all states are worked because
buzzer shows that it is on landing state.

• GPS worked well and thanks to GPS, we could find the

Cansat.

What Didn’t
Here
(If You Want)

• Communication ended at 37 m instead of ground

because lots of trees get in between GCS antenna and
probe. Highest gain antenna and high transmit power
Xbees are already selected but nothing to do to avoid this
problem.

• Camera did not worked. The problem was the camera. It

is not stable.

(If You Want) Conclusions

• In general,
–We have completed every subsystem requirement.
–We did not accomplish bonus missions.
–We enjoyed a lot.
–If possible we are ready to second launch. ☺
–Thanks to the everbody!
