1. OBJECTIVE
2.1. General Objective
Review the contents studied in unit 1 of the Solaris manual seen in class and check how well
we understand them when doing the exercises.
2. DESCRIPTION OR DEVELOPMENT
3.1. Task 1 – Identifying Computer Components
To identify components of the computer, complete the following steps:
3. Define a virtual memory operating system. Name a virtual memory operating system.
A virtual operating system is one that allows multiple programs to run as if the system has
more memory than it does. SunOs5.x is a virtual operating system.
4. Distinguish between the Sun OS 5.x operating system and the Solaris 10 OS.
Sun Os 5x of kernel the Shell and the directory hierarchy
Sun Os 10 of Sun Os 5x of ONC+ and GUI.
6. Name the default shell for the root (/) user in the Solaris 10 OS.
3

Bourne Shell
1. What are the two ways in which you can secure your login session?
Locking the screen and logging out.
3. CONCLUSIONS
I had difficulty doing the practical part of the exercises since I do not have the virtual machine
and I do not know how to install it outside the complexity I consider that it is a good way to check
the learning of the group and personally it helped me to review in a better way the most
important contents of this first unit, since they are concepts that we will be seeing in the future
and it is important not to miss.
