” Video Review

1. Provide a brief summary of the documentary “Food Inc.” (from the beginning to the minute 24:58).

The documentary "Food Inc." begins by showing the current panorama of our society, showing how in the last
five decades, the industrial production system has definitely and radically changed the way we live. Marketing
sell us an image of "natural" and "organic", when isn´t the case. Foods are genetically modified. There is a huge
variety of foods but the vast majority of people don´t know the processes in the production chains, or rather
"overproduction" that benefits the economy of a few multinationals, while the rest are condemned to be slaves of
this system, some working for it and others falling into the trap of consumerism.

2. State your opinion of the video taking into account the ethical choices concept from Unit 7. Provide
specific examples (scenes, situations) from the film.

In accordance with the concepts studied in unit 7 "ethical choices", the video shows aspects that generate ethical
dilemmas such as the overproduction of genetically modified foods that have serious consequences on human
and animal health.

3. What do you think we can make better about the different situations featured in the video? Give
your suggestions using the future tense will” and “won’t”.

We will enjoy our life on this planet if we create sustainable policies that ensure food security for the
present. In this way the needs of future generations won't be compromised.

4. From the parts “” Unintended Consequences” (24:58), “The Dollar Menu” (38:55) and “In The
Grass” (44:21), what is the most inspiring for you and why?

In "Unintended Consequences" talks about the E. Coli bacteria that was found in minced met, fruits and
vegetables, due to water discharged from farm factories. This bacterium claimed the life of Kevin, a two-and-a-
half-year-old boy. The story of how his mother started campaign for safer food is truly touching.
