The Spirit of Akidah in Culture and Art

Islam and Culture

culture is the result of activities and the creation of the mind (intellect) of

man such as trust, arts, and customs. Or it could also be an entire knowledge of

humans as social beings who are used to understand the environment as well as

experience and guide behavior.

From the above definition, it is clear that Islam is concerned to regulate

human culture in accordance with Allah. Here are some points:

First, the cultural diversity essentially is an sunnatullah. Allah the Creator of man

has said:

"And among the signs of (greatness) is His creation of the heavens and the earth,

differences in language and skin color. Indeed, in this is truly there are signs for

people who know "(TQS Ar Rum [30]: 22)

The existence of differences in language, customs, tribes shows that

humans are created with diverse cultures. All that shows the power of God. Nash

also does not indicate the order for Muslims to unite or unify cultures. The other

Nash Shara only show where the culture would be taken by the believers and

which are not.

Secondly, Islam is presented to change the culture of kufr. Although

cultural diversity is sunnatullah, but Sharia also requires that people live under
true living arrangements, leaving a culture that is considered bad by God and take

only the good culture. Islam was revealed in the middle of the cultural diversity of

Kufr (destructive) carried out the majority of Arab society. The presence of the

Holy Prophet habit has been handed down ancestors of the Arabs. Islamic culture

has been eliminated in the form of kufr belief, worship, morals and social laws

such as idolatry, the determination of a fine day, humiliation getting girls baby,

khamer drinking culture, the culture of killing each other, tribes spirit is strong,

and so forth.

Third, cultural Muslims must not conflict with Islamic law. Culture is

closely related to the behavior of even the standpoint of life (one's faith). In this

sense, Islam has established that the Muslim culture should not be out of the rules

of Sharia. This is a consequence of the Islamic faith who have embraced.

Allah says:

"But no, by your Lord, they (in effect) do not believe until they make you

(Muhammad) judge in the case which they differ. "(TQS. An-Nisa [4]: 65)

Making the Prophet as a judge (breaker matter) is to make Islam as a determinant

of whether someone should or not do something. Moreover, Allah has also made

this issue as condition (the consequences of) faith.

Fourth, wary of damaging culture. The state is obliged to protect its

citizens from cultural destructive. Therefore, the State will keep the faith

community, provide awareness and understanding of the faith and Sharia law so

that people have a high devotion to reject any Kufr culture. Hadith of the Holy

Prophet also said:

"Surely you will follow the customs of the peoples before you sejengal by inch, for

the sake fathom fathom, so if they get in the hole Dhab (lizard) you will

undoubtedly follow. So the Companions asked, "O Messenger of Allah (mean) the

Jews and the Christians? (responsible rasulullah): who else? "(HR. Bukhari and

Muslim)

In addition, the State will provide tough sanctions, either a warning

or takzir against all citizens who obviously spread the culture of kufr, let alone use

it.

Islam and Arts

Arts is the expression of the beauty coming up from the deepest part of

man soul. The competence which creates art is one of the difference between

human and another creature. Islam supports art as long as it fits the rule of Islam.

Everything that is beauty is art. Art is made by human or natural things, for

instance, mountainous, ocean, sound, clours, and etc. Arts in Islam is made in the

form of buildings, architecture, paintings, crafts, and more. It can be seen in the

countries with majority of muslims which have the variety of monumental arts all

over the world.
