“Ang Huling Cha-Cha ni Anita”


Course Overview

Overview:

There is no better way for people to understand Gender and Development Concepts (GAD)
and Women’s Issues better than through film.

There had been numerous films developed that portray the current status of women in the
society and the important role they play. In the movie, Ang Huling Cha-cha ni Anita, it
centers on the coming of age of a girl who has inclination to the third sex and how she
copes falling in love. It also tackles other societal issues such as abortion, incest and women
in the patriarchal society

Course Goal:
To enable participants to gain appreciation and a wider perspective on gender issues and the
important choices women make as they learn how to take control of their lives contrary to
traditional practices in a patriarchal society.
Course Objectives:
At the end of the course, participants should be able to:
1. emphatize with the characters in the film;
2. determine gender issues presented in the film;
3. appreciate the characteristics of the protagonist and how she dealt with the different
situations in her young life; and
4. share insights about the film with their co-participants
