Introduction

Psychopharmacology is the aspect that entails the study of the use of drugs to treat human

mental illness. The Psychopharmacologist needs to understand the vital principle of

pharmacokinetics since the field involves higher levels of complexity. Therefore,

psychopharmacology is handled with utmost skills and therapeutic experience when treating

patients with mental disorders (Carlson & Birkett, 2017).

Summary

The article explores the aspect of mental disorders and their involvement with

cardiovascular diseases. First, it explains how depression plays a part in cardiovascular diseases.

In this case, depression is also a factor that can lead to heart failure (Piña et al., 2018). Besides,

mental disorders and cardiovascular diseases need to be administered to the patient. Also, drugs

therapy on anxiety and depression, especially to the elderly population, is prone to

cardiovascular diseases resulting from depression and anxiety (Carlson & Birkett, 2017).

Brief Introduction

Over the recent years, psychological disorders have played a significant role in causing

cardiovascular diseases (Carlson & Birkett, 2017). In most cases, cardiovascular diseases are the

primary cause of mortality and morbidity in the general public. In most cases, psychological

disorders result from mental instability (Carlson & Birkett, 2017). Therefore, psychological

disorders can be significantly reduced by taking into account drug and psychological therapies

(Piña et al., 2018).

disorders; the patients have to undergo drug therapy to counter depression, anxiety, and

psychological problems (Piña et al., 2018).

Mechanism of Action

The best mechanism of action, in this case, is the use of addictive drugs. The use of drugs

causes alters the functioning of the cells that produce the hormones and enzymes that lead to

psychological problems (Carlson & Birkett, 2017). Thus, drug action is efficient in dealing with

psychological disorders.
