maintenance on the crankshaft magnetic pickup.
CRANKSHAFT MAGNETIC PICKUP
NOTE: Periodically the magnetic pickup should be
removed and cleaned. Ferrous metal chips and debris
will be attracted to the pickup face and may interfere
with normal, reliable operation.
1. Remove crankshaft magnetic pickup from flywheel
housing.

12 CYLINDER 4. Using a grease pencil or similar marker, place a


LOCATION reference mark across pickup extending onto gear
housing.
5. Using reference mark, back out pickup 4 turns.
6. Tighten jam nut while holding pickup.

2. Bar engine over until flywheel capscrew aligns with


magnetic pickup hole.
NOTE: Install crankshaft magnetic pickup into
flywheel housing until it makes contact with the
flywheel capscrew, then back out. Removal of the
coupling shroud will provide visual access when
performing maintenance to position the magnetic
pickup.
