Design and development of a roll cage for All Terrain vehicle (ATV).

2.INTRODUCTION
Roll Cage can be called as skeleton of a vehicle, which is specially engineered and
constructed to protect the passengers in the event of rollover

Introduction

ATV means aall terrain vehicle which is specially designed for a off roads driving.

• ATV is designed for very rough terrain, jumps, endurance.

• Following are the major points which were considered for designing the roll
cage for off road vehicle:
• Endurance
• Safety and Ergonomics.
• Market availability.
• Cost of the components.

• Safe engineering practices.

7.Experience
Catia (computer aided three dimension interactive application) is one of its kind in
modelling different parts, drafting, assembly, simulation and many more things it
does in field of mechanical design.
Apart from Mechanical application it has electrical and fluid interface for
working.it also used by the architecture to develop blueprints. At present it used in
Boeing Company with Enovia LC, Sufran, and many defence are using this software
to build the fighter jets and plane. It is also used in automobile company like
Skoda, Bentley Motors LTD, Mahindra LTD, Volvo and Fiat etc.
package which are required for manufacturing (modelling, assembly, drafting,
simulation etc.) It does same work as other modelling software but speciality of
this is that it contain whole
This course was introduced in our academic 2017-2018.The beginning we were
thought about sketching which done slow process so that the student should
interact with software more effectively. One we were ready the process went like
swift. The course was going as per schedule. The tools in catia is more efficient
from other CAD software which has inbuilt process management to work at faster
rate. We dealt with software for about 2-3 months in this semester, started from
simple drawing sketches to the most difficult part. It was easy to work on this
workbench.
Later we started part modelling we learnt tools taught by the wonderful faculty
members pouring their enormous amount of knowledge to us and make
understand the tool in much less complicated way
On fifth week we were introduced to Generative Shape Design(Gsd) which is main
important application in today’s world and one of the best feature in catia which I
snot there in other software. There we learnt how the real life products are
designed which has many tools and there we can create the Small hair pin to wings
of plane.
At Sixth week the assembly and drafting was introduced were the part assembly is
much easier than other tools but one drawback was movement of part was not
free and the space for part is vast there may be problem loosing of the parts. The
Drafting tools is far advanced than other tools it has detailed sheet which was not
used in other CAD tools the drafting is very easy in catia as it gives all projection in
one go. It has variety size of sheet and the inbuilt symbols for GD & T which is
more used in industries.
In this course we were given the necessity and importance of GD& T which is used
in all the industries it basic foundation we must require. This software got inbuilt

analysis which reduces loss of data during. This analysis is also called as Abacus
which is better than Ansys software because of its solving of problem by creating
more number of nodes.
