Report on Parent and Student Orientation

September 21, 2020

According to a study, it is very important that the parents are involve in the education of their
children. The children demonstrate positive attitude, and they showed good performance in
school if they have supportive parents. In line with this, VDFHS conducted a Parent and Student
Orientation last September 21, 2020 in preparation for the opening of classes this October and
because of the pandemic we are not allowed to do any mass gathering or face to face meet ups.
VDFHS conducted their first ever online orientation through FBLive. It was well watched by
parents, students, teachers and respected members of the school headed by the supportive
principal Mr. Nilo A. Abolencia. In his opening remarks he mentioned that there were 3 reasons
why we should smile today: God loves us, God listens, and God is always with us. Sir Nilo
warmly welcomed the parents, guardians, students, teachers, and co - workers for school year
2020 -2021.

According to him school opening will not necessarily mean traditional face - to -
face learning in the classroom. The physical opening of schools will depend on the risk grading
or classification of a locality, pursuant to the guidelines of the DOH, IATF, or the OP. Physical
distancing is still required and other safety protocols must be observed, which will mean that
schools will combine face-to-face learning with distance learning. The school opening will be on
October 5, a few weeks from now. Mr. Abolencia discussed the LCP and the Learning
Modalities to be used in the school in the new normal setting. He mentioned in his talk also
about the pilot testing done a few weeks ago and he was thankful to all the participants, faculty
members, and co-workers for their enormous help and unending support to make the program a
success. Several preparations were made for the pilot testing. He reiterated that learning
continues in despite of the present crisis, the parents will be the aid and learning facilitator also
of their children. In addition to that, he reminded the students will stay at home only while
learning but they should not forget to focus on their studies with discipline, he quoted “ mag-
aralmabuti at huwagkalimutanangsakripisyo ng mgamagulang”. The DepED continues to pursue
on each quest to quality education and Mr. NiloAbolencia believed that VDFHS continues to be
accessible to right and quality education.

The next speaker of the orientation was TLE Dept. Head Teacher Mrs. Rosemarie
Tiquia, she touched on the pilot testing conducted recently in the school. She said that pilot
testing is the process that will gather empirical data to support whether the curriculum is useful,
relevant, reliable, and valid. It will serve as a guide or tool in preparation for the new normal
learning. Before the pilot testing was done there were 5 phases before it was achieved. First was
the planning, headed by the principal Mr.NiloAbolencia and selected teachers prepared the
following materials: printed learning modules, activity sheets, answer sheets, feedback forms,
class schedule, etc. During the phase 2 preparation, learning kits were arranged and prepared by
the team teachers. Parents of selected students went to school to get the learning modules on a
time basis and observing social distancing and the wearing of facemask/faceshield and following
all safety protocols imposed by the IATF. The parents were supervised and well assisted by the
pilot testing committee and the PTA Officers. In the distribution of the learning modules, health
and safety protocols were strictly implemented such as: the use of I AM SAFE Id or the use of
logbook for contact tracing, No Facemask; No Entry, Social Distancing, Body Temp. was taken,
and proper hand sanitation. In the third phase, the selected students were given learning kits. The
students will be guided by the parents and teachers and if there are certain queries about the
learning kit the students and parents can contact their respective teachers through Facebook
Messenger, Text or Call. The fourth phase is the retrieval of module; the parents will also be the
one to return the accomplished module to the school still observing safety protocols. The last
phase is the Monitoring and Evaluation; this is the time wherein the teacher is ready to answer
the questions of his/her student regarding the learning kit. There are guides for the parents and
the students on how to use the Module and Activity Sheets.

school facility for the distribution of learning modules were also present in the online parent's
and student's orientation. Also with the help of all the teachers in VDFHS headed by Mr. Nilo
Abolecia the school was able to prepared well. Some guidlines as well as health protocols were
discussed that the parents need to follow when they get the learning modules of their children.

Also Ms. Anelei Madlangbayan gave some of the details on what will happen during the
distribution of module as well as the retrieval. She also mention the schedule to the parents of the
said distribution of learning modules. Parents do not need to go to school unless it is the schedule
of their chilren of getting the module. Ms. Analei reiterated that the one that will get the module
will be the parents or guardians. Individuals below 20 years old and 60 years old above will not
be allowed to enter in the school premeses.

The last presenter in the recently concluded Parent's and Student's Online Orientation was
Ms Marielle Del Rosario, she discussed about the Novel Corona Virus that caused why we are
experiencing this situation. The WHO declared months ago and still happenning now that our
World as of now is experiencing health crisis brought by the said virus. Millions of people aroud
the world, and most of the countries are fighting to stop the spread of this virus. She mentioned
some alternative things that we need to do in order to prevent getting this virus. No medicine nor
vaccine have been developed to stop this deadly virus. What we must do is to observe some
health protocols given by the WHO and DOH.

And finaly as we are facing this time of what we called "NEW NORMAL" VDHS
assuring its parents that the school is doing the very best in order to give a distance quality
education to all the learners that entrusted to the school. With the help of our Almighty God we
will overcome this obstacle and sooner or later we will be back to our normal life.
