Read the text below:

A Football Star

Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro, commonly known as

Cristiano Ronaldo, was born on 5 th February 1985 in Funchal,
Madeira. He is the youngest child of Maria Dolores dos Santos
Aveiro and José Dinis Aveiro. His father died in September
2005 at age 52 when Ronaldo was 20. He has one older
brother and two older sisters.
At the age of eight, Ronaldo started playing for the amateur
team Andorinha. Two years later, he joined the local club,
Nacional da Madeira. Then, in 1997, Ronaldo moved away from his home island of Madeira to
play for Sporting CP. It was very traumatic to leave his family. When he saw his mother crying
at the airport, he cried too. In the beginning, life in Lisbon wasn´t very easy for him, so he
called his family all the time.
Ronaldo´s skills soon attracted Europe´s big teams. So, when he was eighteen, he signed
for Manchester United, an English professional football club. They gave him their famous
number 7 shirt. Many of the greatest Manchester footballers like David Beckham wore the
same number. Ronaldo said it motivated him.
On 1st July 2009, he joined Real Madrid.
Nowadays Ronaldo is a superstar. These are some of his awards: the European Golden
Shoe for being the best goalscorer (2007-2008 and 2010-2011) and the FIFA World Player of
the Year (2008) because he was considered the best footballer in the world. Ronaldo has lots
of football fans everywhere. They love his quick feet and wonderfull skills.
