Suitable for use in commercial, institutional and residential kitchens, the John Boos JNS Maple Top Work Table Series has a hard rock maple top built for strength.The
maple top is finished with penetrating oil for hardness, which allows it to better resist water and spills. The lower shelf and sturdy legs made of galvanized steel are
resistant to corrosion and dents.

The table ships knocked down. Easy to assemble,

instructions are included.
The JNS Work Table Series is built to comply with
the National Sanitation Foundation NSF/ANSI
Standard 2 for food equipment.

Quality for Over a Century

In 1887, Effingham, Illinois blacksmith Conrad Boos used a Sycamore tree placed on three legs while hammering horseshoes. Three years later, a local butcher realized a
wooden Boos Block could be used for cutting meat, and had one custom made. Word spread to surrounding small towns and cities and by 1911, John Boos & Co was
shipping custom butcher blocks from coast to coast.

Today, the traditional craftsmen work ethic is still alive and well at John Boos, where all JNS wood tops are made. Often imitated, John Boos boards and tables and

This is a very sturdy work table! It goes together quickly but you must have a socket wrench!

Also, two people are needed when putting the shelf on which needs a bit of juggling to get it in place, the
hardest part, otherwise quite easy! Also 2 people needed to lift and flip it! Also it is covered with saw dust
and needs liberally oiled! Let it sit overnight before removing excess oil! I applied 3 layers of oil!

We were looking for a sturdy kitchen island and shopped for weeks before discovering this product. We
wanted a solid maple top that was simple and sturdy. We loved the fact that you could choose the size you
needed. We purchased the 24"x36". The island came well-packaged and after a bit of pondering the
instructions, finally figured out how to put it together. From there it was easy. Be prepared, it is heavy, but
that's what makes it so nice. We oiled it with mineral oil every night before bed and wiped it up in the
morning. After a week of this it was well sealed, but I'm still oiling it once a week for a while. I prepare food
on it, cut and slice on it and serve from it. It's perfect for our needs.

As other reviews were saying it was packaged poorly I had some concern coming in. It looks like Boos
listener because it was packed extremely well and secure and I had no bends, dings, scratches or anything,
it’s perfect for my kitchen and it has already been used several times and the only thing I wish is that I had
bought it sooner. Boos Blocks are some of the best cutting surfaces out there in my opinion. Great product.

The good: The wood top itself is very nice the table is very sturdy, even without the shelf (more on that in
the bad below). I actually do like the item, but cannot give more than 2 stars to something that arrives with
this much damage. I also purchased the Boo's Mystery Oil and applied it right out of the box.

The bad: It is puzzling how a company can mail so many of these and have a packaging layout that would
allow for the damage I encountered. The shelf was laid over the bottom of the table. the bottom of the
table has 4 leg supports protruding out. The shelf now has a ring imprinted on one corner caused by one of
these supports. BOTH sides of the shelf were caved in. While both of those were cosmetic damage, the last
bit of damage renders the shelf useless. One of the metal supports, that WAS welded to the shelf, was
broke off. There was no apparent damage to the outside of the packaging itself, but to cause this kind of
damage it would have had to be handled very wrong, but the packaging itself obviously didn't offer much
protection to begin with.

What looks like an incredible prep table is marred by so many issues that it's a hassle to own. The
packaging came mangled. The galvanized steel shelf was beaten and dinged in every which way, and huge
chips, dents and broken pieces from the tabletop.

After going through several returns, it took three additional return and deliveries until I received a table
that wasn't beyond repair. Each package was mangled in some way, cut up and damaged, but the latest
one had one dent in the tray that I was able to pound out.

Assembly is straightforward, though do yourself a favor and center / adjust the shelf before securing the
legs to the table. It's a narrow fit and construction is compounded when the shelf doesn't slide into place
easily.

Tabletop comes untreated. So if you're hoping to use it as a food prep table, invest in some beeswax or
good food grade cutting board oil. Plan on doing a few passes before you should chop vegetables on it or
knead
Readdough.

Hefty table, but defects and quality not worth the price

This table is everything indicated here in terms of size and stability, and even construction. What was
disappointing for me though was the quality when the table arrived. Packaging was so-so but seemed
adequate for the weight of the product. After unpacking, the first thing that caught my eye was a large
chunk of wood out of the top edge of the tabletop. This is significant damage, as the table top quality is
paramount. I looked carefully within the packaging, and as suspected (because of the nature of the
damage) there was no 'splintered out' wood in the packaging. This means that the table was damaged
when it was packed and shipped. Either no one noticed it or did notice and didn't care - either way that is a
poor process. Additionally, there were a couple small bends in the galvanized base/shelf, but that alone
wouldn't be enough for me to complain.

The butcher block tabletop itself is mediocre quality at best. The surface is not even close to even and
level, and as you run your hand over the wood you can feel all the joints between individual boards, and
you can feel the waviness of the top. Lastly, you can feel a very rough texture to the surface.

On the positive side, if you don't care about the above quality items, the table is very sturdy, assembles
easily,

moreshould be a nice utility table / work surface. The galvanized legs are hefty and height
