 INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CANDIDATE

1. Before the submission of synopsis/thesis, the Ph.D. candidate should present pre-Thesis submission presentation in
the department including the Doctoral Committee members, faculty members and research scholars at a seminar for
getting feedback and comments, which may be suitably incorporated into the draft thesis under the advice of the
Supervisor.

2. Candidate should pay the synopsis submission fee of Rs. 5000 (for NRIs & Foreign Students 500 US $) through
online payment or DD in the name of “Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli-24”, submit along with this
application.

3. The synopsis should include the following components in 7-10 pages only:

a. Title of the thesis

b. State of the art of the research topic
c. Definition of the problem / Objectives and scope of research work
d. Results and discussion
e. List of articles published as in the UGC website and a screen shot of the same
f. Conclusion

The candidate should submit two copies of the synopsis of the proposed thesis along with the virus-free soft copy in
PDF format on a CD, the panel of examiners (see Ph.D. Regulations 11.0) and the Viva- panel in a sealed cover
(provided by the Research Supervisor).

4. Then submit the synopsis within 15 days from the date of presentation along with signatures of attendees to The
Director-Research, Ph.D. Section.

5. The synopsis will not be accepted if it does not fulfill the above requirements. In such case, synopsis will be
returned to the candidate.

6. The synopsis application form is through the Research Supervisor and forwarded by Head of the Department /
Institution / Organization, as the case may be.

1. DD / E-Receipt worth of Rs. 5000/-

2. Filled-in Ph.D. Synopsis form
3. Original PhD Provisional Registration Letter
4. Original PhD Confirmation Order
5. Original Extension and Re-registration Letter, if applicable
6. Original PG / Other qualifying Degree certificate with attested copy of the same
7. Certificate of Submission of progress report from the Research Supervisor
8. Certificate by the Doctoral Committee for the list of Articles Published
9. Synopsis Viva-voce presentation report along with attendance Sheet
10. Two copies of Synopsis with CD’s
11. Evaluation and Viva-voce panel in sealed covers
