DRDO- Defence Research and Development
Organisation

1. DRDO is the R&D wing of Ministry of Defence, Govt of India, with a vision to empower India with cutting-edge defence
technologies and a mission to achieve self-reliance in critical defence technologies and systems, while equipping our
armed forces with state-of-the-art weapon systems and equipment in accordance with requirements laid down by the
three Services. DRDO's pursuit of self-reliance and successful indigenous development and production of strategic
systems and platforms such as Agni and Prithvi series of missiles; light combat aircraft, Tejas; multi-barrel rocket
launcher, Pinaka; air defence system, Akash; a wide range of radars and electronic warfare systems; etc., have given
quantum jump to India's military might, generating effective deterrence and providing crucial leverage.
HAL- Hindustan Aeronautics Limited

1. The Company which had its origin as Hindustan Aircraft Limited was incorporated on 23 Dec 1940 at Bangalore by Shri
Walchand Hirachand, a farsighted visionary, in association with the then Government of Mysore, with the aim of
manufacturing aircraft in India. In March 1941, the Government of India became one of the shareholders in the Company
and subsequently took over its management in 1942. In collaboration with the Inter Continental Aircraft Company of
USA, the Company commenced its business of manufacturing of Harlow Trainer, Curtiss Hawk Fighter and Vultee Bomber
Aircraft. In January 1951, Hindustan Aircraft Limited was placed under the administrative control of Ministry of Defence,
Government of India.
ONGC- Oil and Natural Gas Corporation
Limited

ONGC is the largest crude oil and natural gas Company in India, contributing around 71 per cent to Indian domestic
production. Crude oil is the raw material used by downstream companies like IOC, BPCL, HPCL and MRPL (Last two are
subsidiaries of ONGC) to produce petroleum products like Petrol, Diesel, Kerosene, Naphtha, and Cooking Gas LPG. ONGC has
a unique distinction of being a company with in-house service capabilities in all areas of Exploration and Production of oil &
gas and related oil-field services. Winner of the Best Employer award, this public sector enterprise has a dedicated team of
around 28,500 professionals who toil round the clock in challenging locations.
IFFCO- Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited

Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) is one of India's biggest cooperative society which is wholly owned by
Indian Cooperatives.
Founded in 1967 with just 57 cooperatives, we are today an amalgamation of over 36,000 Indian Cooperatives with diversified
business interests ranging from General Insurance to Rural Telecom apart from our core business of manufacturing and
selling fertilisers.
ISRO- Indian Space Research Organisation

India decided to go to space when Indian National Committee for Space Research (INCOSPAR) was set up by the Government of India in
1962. With the visionary Dr Vikram Sarabhai at its helm, INCOSPAR set up the Thumba Equatorial Rocket Launching Station (TERLS) in
Thiruvananthapuram for upper atmospheric research.
Indian Space Research Organisation, formed in 1969, superseded the erstwhile INCOSPAR. Vikram Sarabhai, having identified the role
and importance of space technology in a Nation's development, provided ISRO the necessary direction to function as an agent of
development. ISRO then embarked on its mission to provide the Nation space based services and to develop the technologies to achieve
the same independently.
