E Description

Engagement Teacher will show students a pumpkin seed. Pass the pumpkin seed around the
class and let students share about what they observe. Ask students if they know
what it is. What do they think it will turn into? Show students a pumpkin. Ask
them where they usually see pumpkins. Give students a link to post into a padlet
about what they already know and what they want to know about pumpkins.
They should put their name in the title area so that I know what they posted.

After all students have had a chance to post in the padlet, work together to
carve a pumpkin. Let students take turns using their hands to scoop the seeds
out. Place the carved pumpkin outside in a spot students can easily see so the
class can watch and observe the pumpkin decomposing together.
