I arrived to work and began working on appointment sheets that had not yet been finished. I
checked the nurse phones again and returned any phone calls that needed to be returned. After
this, I worked on sending referrals to doctors and calling the patients to follow up. For the rest of
the afternoon, I did paperwork, scheduled appointments, and checked all of the messages and
returned them.
When I got to work, I began by calling all the places where I had sent referrals to follow up on
the information. After this, I sent about a dozen orders to St. Mary’s hospital for many kinds of
tests. After this, I finished the marketing article that was assigned to me and sent it to the
marketing director. I did not have much work the rest of the afternoon, so I helped some of my
When I arrived to work, I finished scanning a few documents left from the previous day. After
this, I called a few more patients that I was unable to reach the previous day to schedule their
appointments. Throughout the rest of the day, I answered the nurse phones and took any
messages down that needed to be delegated to the physicians. In addition, I worked on the online
fax box to send any medical records requested by other physician’s offices. Ending the day, I
made Care Calls to the patients in our Chronic Care Management (CCM) program to check in on
When I got to work I made Care Calls for a couple of hours and documented everything into our
program Avitracks. After this, I caught up on some paperwork and made some appointments. In
addition, I checked the voicemail and the fax box and returned calls and delegated what I was
unable to do. For the rest of the afternoon, I had a meeting with the Director of Operations and a
few other individuals. In this meeting, we talked about the CCM program and ways in which we
could improve it and how the clinic could profit from it more. Throughout the meeting my boss
asked everyone involved in the program to help in any way that we could and to brainstorm new
ideas to improve and reconfigure the program. After this meeting, my boss and I discussed a lot
of ideas that I had and a few we are going to be implementing. It was a great feeling to hear that
my ideas were good and that they could really help people. After this meeting and the
conversations, I had with him, we decided that it would be more beneficial to myself and the
clinic to change my internship project from the concierge program to the CCM program.
My week felt very short due to the holiday, and I was not overwhelmed with work as I usually
am. However, after the meeting I had I realized that I not only have an interest in the clinical side
of my internship, but I very much enjoy the business side. I have always been a creative person,
so being challenged to come up with ideas that have not yet been thought of was an incredibly
fun task for me and challenged me in a way that I have not yet been challenged yet. I am very
eager to see what everyone else comes up with and see how these ideas can profoundly change
the program from a clinical aspect, but also the patient experience in the program.

For the second weekend, LCMG held another blood drive for the COVID 19 research. While at
the blood drive, I did the same things I did the previous week. Throughout the day I checked
patients in/out, helped organize all of the blood tubes, escort patients to the correct area, and
provide patients with any water/snacks they may need. In addition, I organized the drawn blood
