a. Exercise 1. Capture a thing that has historical significance in your own community and
Explain why you consider it as significant.
History of Barangay Munguia

This material is important in our

barangay/community because it signifies the origin of
the culture of our community and the through meaning
of “Munguia”. Also, this history can shape the way we
view the present and become more aware of what
happened or how the people come up with the name
“Munguia”. Therefore, it could be easier for the new
generations to preserve our history and pass it on into
the future generations to what has really happened in
the past.

b. Exercise 2. Provide and capture a primary source that can

be used in the writing of your life history. Discuss how it
qualifies as a primary source.

Birth Certificate
My birth certificate is already considered as
primary source. The definition of primary source it said
that ‘proofs of witnesses and evidences of materials
which are present at the time of the occurrence of an
event or period’ and it is an actual or original document
which indicates the name, birthplace, birthdate and
others they can be used in public transactions. Birth
certificate is timely and there is an involvement of direct
witness which makes the information become reliable
and certified. This is why the certificate is used for legal
purposes especially in education, workplace and some
personal matter.
My life history begins with these documents
showing may legal name, birthday, parents, religion, the
place where I born, and a seal of true copy from PSA.
We are born natural and also, we are born legal. This document is very useful especially
when I started to enter for my schooling in day care. Birth certificate is already given when
my parents need to get me enrolled. Not only for education, it’s also used in getting some of
my scholarships, certifications, government ID and others. Example when I’m 18 years old, I
started to get my voter’s Id in the COMELEC, submitting all of my requirements especially
the Birth Certificate as well as in Indigenous People and GSIS Scholarship. This document is
the only pathway to enter in any transaction both public or private sector.
