Educational Crisis
Pakistan faces a multitude of challenges that go beyond terrorism, political instability, and other
security related problems that tend to attract the most attention in Washington. Pakistan
suffers from public health dilemmas, energy woes, water shortages, and high levels of food
insecurity, to name just a few. It also suffers from an extensive education crisis. Millions of
Pakistani children do not attend school, and those that do must deal with absent teachers and
poor learning environments, among other things. What makes Pakistan’s education crisis
particularly troubling is that it exacerbates many of the country’s other problems. The
uneducated masses complicate efforts to groom qualified experts to effectively address
Pakistan’s many public policy challenges. Additionally, young people without sufficient
education have trouble getting jobs and can become desirable recruitment targets for militant
groups.

How Much Does Pakistan Spend?

The 2020 gross expenditure allocation for the Department of Education and Skills will be over
€11.1 billion1, €361 million (3.4%) above the Department’s 2019 allocation in the Revised
Estimates Volume. Around €2 billion extra will be allocated to education in 2020 compared to
2015.

FINANCIAL PROBLEMS FACING THE EDUCATION OF STUDENTS.

Financial problems have caused a lot of effect on the educational sector, the increase
exorbitant cost formal education constitute the major excuse most parents or guardians gives
for not educating or withdrawing their children and wards from school to learn a trade, they do
not bother to put or contribute their money in the education of their children.

Some students for financial reasons could not pay attention in the class, rather they would
be thinking of how to get money to buy their practical materials, handouts etc. in most
institutions today, we have many ladies going into prostitution for financial purposes, since they
do not have other means of getting money. Likewise, the guys also engage themselves in
cultism or armed robbery. some students whose studies are going smoothly suddenly fall victim
of half education because of their parents or guardians who go through financial crises or they
could even lose them and that could make them stop their education.

An issue of concern here is the fiscal crises and the inadequate public support being given to
the education sector, particularly at the primary level. such as lack of instructional facilities.
most teacher find it difficult to teach a particular topic to enhance learning ability of students,
at times, governments are unable to pay salaries to the teachers on a regular basis and the
funds for running the school are not distributed on time. consequently, teachers are not
motivated, and this had led to teachers absenting themselves in school which directly has a
poor performance on the students they teach, and gradually, it reduces the quality of teaching.
This situation has I suppose have a negative effect on student’s performance and achievement.
However, above many facts, this has discouraged parents from wanting to send their children
to acquire education at all.

Problem: In Pakistan education is very expensive due to the shortage of public educational
institutes. We have only 73 public universities and most of the population study in these
universities. Similarly, there is short number of public colleges where students can get free
education. Our most of the students belong to the middle class and they have very limited
resources. Parents can’t afford easily the expenses of studying their children. Lots of students
have to work part time to sponsor their studies themselves. In student’s life nearly every
student usually faces financial crisis.

Solution: Students can cope with these crises very easily by a little effort. There are lots of
home tuitions available for university students to teach students for 2 or 3 hours and earn
money to meet their expenditures. Students can also do a part time job which is related to their
studies this would give them a practical experience of their field. This experience would be
helpful in future for getting a job.
