MODUL 2 ENGLISH FOR PERSONAL COMMUNICATION

I teach in MTsN 4 Kediri. It is located

near the International Kediri Airport
which is being constructed now. Some
of students are not familiar with
some terms related to an airport
situation especially announcement
which is related to airport situation.

 Related to the students’ environment, it is

necesarry to build students’ motivation in
learning English as their preparation to face
their future surrounding (near airport where
they can have jobs there and meet foreigners).
One of sklills that should be mastered is
announcements related to airport situation
which is written in English because the
situation is in the International Airport.
Rencana Desain Pembelajaran materi terkait
(HOTS - activities)
 Students are asked to browse some announcements related
to airports both written and spoken. (LOTS)
 They are instructed to comprehend the meaning of the
announcements they have found.(MOTS)
 They classify the announcements based on the type (written
and spoken) (MOTS)
 Ask students to compare and analyze those two types, what
makes them different, how and why ...(HOTS)
 Ask them to find out what in the announcements are.
(generic structure: purpose, time, place, announcer,
receiver, and more). (HOTS)
 Ask students to discuss why such kind of announcements
should be in that place and ask them to present the result of
their discussion. (HOTS)

Language use
Generic Structure:
The purpose of announcement, this part
contains what event that has happened or that
will happen.
Stating Day, Date and Time, these parts contain
when the event has happened or will be held.
Place, this part contains where the event has
happened or will be held.
Receiver, this parts contains who the
announcement is intended for.
Sender, this part contains name of the person
who will be contacted.
More information, this part contains additional
information about announcement.
Language Features :
Using simple present perfect tense. (if the
event/information has just happened)
Using simple present tense.
E.g.: We apologize for the inconvenience.

Using simple future tense. (if the

event/information will happen)
E.g.: Due to some technical problems, the show will...

Using exact noun. (for who the

announcement is intended for), e.g.:
All eighth grade students' of MTsN 4 Kediri
Mr. Zam (as the committee)
