Knowledge Management in the Tourism Industry

Abstract:
Study and implementation of knowledge management systems in various areas of
socio-economic, from the 1980s is taken into consideration of scholars, experts and
executives. Tourism industry due to its importance and impact on the economic and social
factors in society has been considered of politicians and because of the multifaceted nature
of tourism, several studies in different fields, particularly management and economics, is
focused in this area. Tourism industry, like any industry requires a different application of
the concepts, theories and researches of The Management’s modern Science. Formation,
stability and sustainable development of tourism in any society requires attention to tacit
knowledge and objective information of tourism sub-systems, including accommodation
(hotels), travel agencies, destinations, on the one hand and various types of tourist systems,
such as ecotourism, sports, health, religion and so on. Knowledge management as a new,
strategic and competitive approach, in the management of information resources and
intellectual capital, Can promote tourism in to competitive and profitable industry.
Creating, developing, storing, organizing, sharing, distribution, application and evaluation
of knowledge assets in the tourism industry that it can be called knowledge management in
tourism, is inevitable. The purpose of this study is to investigate the role of knowledge
management in the tourism industry with a systematic approach, according to the findings
of tourism on the one hand, and the theory and practice of knowledge management on the
other.
