Question:

What type of exploratory research would you suggest in the following situations?

a. A research project has the purpose of evaluating potential names for a corporate spin-

off.

Answer: We recommend conducting an experience survey using primary research

methodologies. Since the founding members of the organization are a major source of

information about the organization, they can evaluate prospective names for a corporate spin-
off. Companies should have a meaningful name that reflects the value they deliver. As a

result, the researchers should conduct interviews with the company's original members to

learn about the company's origins and motivations. As a result, conducting an experience

survey while considering possible names for a corporate spin-off is an excellent approach to

gather information.

b. A human resource manager must determine the most important benefits of an

employee health plan.

Answer: We recommend conducting formal qualitative research using in-depth interviews

with a focus group of employees and company management. The human resource manager

should research the employee health plan of the other companies and the effects it has had on

various aspects of the job, such as job performance and employee retention. An interview

with an employee can provide additional information about job satisfaction. A focus group

interview with employees might provide insight into what benefits are most important to

employees. So, for the following situation, in-depth interviews and focus groups are suitable

options.
