Scene 1
(Queen walks with the King)
Creon: My people, the war has ended and we have survived the horrors our city faced
Chorus: Loss, pain, suffering
Creon: The Gods have steadied our water and blessed our city with rainfall. As your king I
vow to protect it and keep its peace.
Queen: All hail Creon
Chorus: All hail Creon
Creon: We will return the city to its formal Glory. We will not forget Eteocles who died
protecting the city and will be buried tonight.
Chorus: Eteocles the hero
Creon: Of those like Polynices determined to see this city burn and ruin it, those who fought
against us and betrayed Thebes, they shall remain unburied. Those who will defy me and you
the great people of Thebes, death shall be their punishment.
Scene 2
(Antigone and Ismene enter the scene)
A: We have to do this
I: We can’t
A: We have to bury him
I: We don’t have to do anything. You’re not doing anything
A: He’s our brother
I: And you’re my sister, Antigone.
A: I know Ismene. But we were both his sisters
I: And we have no one else left
A: It’s not fair that we can’t bury our own brother
I: So do you want them to bury us as well?
A: I can’t stand still knowing that he’s lying all alone, with vultures over his body..
I: I know. But we can’t. We really can’t do this.
A: Is it too much to ask for him to be buried? I loved him.
I: And I love you. Without you, I have no family left.
A: But it’s our right (angry)
I: They’ll kill you. I beg you. Please do not abandon me
A: Ismene, I’m sorry. I’m tired. I don’t know what’s coming over me
I: It’s okay sister. You won’t do it right?
A: I won’t
I: Thank you sister. There’s still time for us to honor him in our own way… (Ismene leaves.
Antigone stays there ani Hamon enters)
Scene 3
Scene 4
Scene 7
A: I have done the right thing
I: I understand that in your eyes this is right but just..
A: I’m making my mark on this short time we are given
I: It’s only short because you made it so. You had long years ahead of you, but you just
buried all those years along with our brother in just one swoop.
A: What would you do if you were in my place Ismene? What would you do if you had to
choose?
I: Nothing.
A: But what would you do if you had to choose one of this?
I: Nothing. If I had to choose anything, I would choose for all of this to be over. I’m tired of
all this, Antigone. I’m tired
A: Oh you’re tired? Well just go and rest. I’ll just stay here. Awake. I have no other option
other than to go to sleep soon.
I: I know you see me as weak. Maybe I am
A: You could have joined me. But you didn’t. Please leave me.
I: You remember the story our mother used to tell us every night. The story of two sisters
born with each other’s hearts. You made her tell the story every night. I was so annoyed at
you
I: Please say something? Anything
I: Im so sorry. Im so ashamed
A: No im sorry sister
I: I couldn’t stop you
A: I wouldn’t let you
I: Are you sick or hurt?
A: I am cold
I: I wish I had something for you
I: Im sorry. Soon the guard will come and I’d have to go
A: How did it end? The story of two sisters?
(I takes out the rope from A’s hand and ties it to her hair)
I: Don’t be silly. You know
A: Tell me anyways
I: They took the sisters to the hospital. But nothing could be done. The hearts were in their
body. They couldn’t take the hearts out because it would kill them. They had to leave for
each other
A: Leave for me, Ismene
I: What?
(Guard comes in)
G: It’s time
A: Go now sister. I love you
I: I love you
(Ismene gets pulled away by the guard)
A: Is this where my path finally leads? My life cut short by my own hands. Will I be
honored? Or will I be decayed here? Where are the Gods I have fought for? Where are you
now that I’m here? All my dreams will die in this room.
C: Will you risk everything for your brother?
C: Your family has been honored
C: I don’t see him as a traitor
C: I cannot lose my sister
C: He shall remain unburied
C: The world will stand with you Antigone
C: City of Thebes sings for you
C: Outside the people are wailing
(Everyone: we forgive you Antigone)
(Antigone dies)

Creon: Haemon, She betrayed us
Haemon: Father!! Please
Creon: Make it quick (pointing towards Antigone)
Haemon: No!! (Starts crying)
Creon: Son
Haemon: Do not touch me
Creon: Haemon
Haemon: I wish she have a life of her, you knew that. You destroyed it
Creon: Haemon Please
Haemon: What?? What could you possibly have to say??
Creon: I didn’t want this for her. She knew the consequences.
Haemon: or do you set? (Pushing Creon back). I am no longer your son and you are not my
father
Creon: Hemon
Haemon: you never were
Creon: sorry, I
Haemon: You coward (strangling the neck and push Creon into the ground)
(Haemon kills himself)
(Creon stands up saying no Haemon no)

Eurydice- My king! Why have you done this? How did you let this happen in front of your
