PROPOSAL FOR
500 ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY FOR 500 YEARS OF CHRISTIANITY

INTRODUCTION:
The COVID 19 Pandemic has affected the whole world from big businesses,
the daily wage earners, sidewalk vendors, persons with disabilities, elderly and
school-aged children. The situation has called for strict social discipline, unified
efforts of promotion of health, and protection of human lives to the utmost.
To address the resource gap among those severely affected among us, the
Ministry for Persons with Disabilities recognizes the need to help the persons
with disabilities as one of this Year of Christianity’s celebration 500 target
beneficiaries. We committed to partner as a recognized program service provider
of the Archdiocese Commission on Youth its program on providing assistive
technology for their youth members with disabilities, their families and neighbor
in the community. In doing so, we celebrate not one but two momentous
occasions with one concerted effort for our brethren at large. We plan to assess,
screen and provide for 500 devices in the form of canes, crutches, walkers,
hearing aids, service wheelchairs, adaptive gadgets for education and work
purposes to the beneficiaries as well as provide medical care, physical
rehabilitations, psychosocial assistance starting May 2021.

GENERAL OBJECTIVE:
The project aims to help our Archdiocesan PWD Ministry in providing medical,
para medical and rehabilitation services to the beneficiaries in all the 9 districts
with a total of 171 parishes of the archdiocese.
Specific Objectives:
1. To assess and screen beneficiary’s medical needs, pharmacological needs
and physical rehabilitation needs for 500 beneficiaries
2. To be able to purchase a set of assistive devices (5 canes, 5 crutches, 5
walkers, 5 wheelchairs, 5 tablets/android phones) to be used in their parish
clinics for their operations during church related activities.
3. To train the youth in the churches how to access medical, para medical and
rehab care (referral network and patient navigation) for those in need.
4. To be able to train the parish clinic staff and commission on service youth
members on how to assist the parishioners using the devices when needing
medical, para medical and rehab care.
5. To provide instructions for the care and maintenance of the devices.
6. Long Term follow-up’s at the target Youthlinks Center Clinic and Training
Facility.

TARGET BENEFICIARIES: Archdiocesan PWD Ministry members, Commission on


Youth members and the community of persons with disabilities.
Our Impact: The locally available referral network of patients needing assistance
in seeking medical, paramedical and rehab care aims to promote Universal Health
Care in the church. In so doing, we make our bayanihan spirit and culture of
excellence in providing care come alive where it matters most, among the poor
whom Jesus always identified with and for whose project this is all for. A
thanksgiving that unfolds daily for all.

DATE & VENUE : Given the time and situation, procurement will immediately
start upon approval of funds to start May 2021 and end on May 2022.

Ministry of PWD Core Members: Implementor of the project. The core group will
supervise and document the procurement, collaborate with distribution and
conduct the spot checking for the whole aspect of the project

Long Term beyond the Project Plans: Clinic and Training Center Operations of the
