Nemmerle Languages

The Nemmerle Campaign World Languages
The D&D languages listed on p. 82 of the PHB offer a rich array of scripts to be used and
encountered by adventurers. Nemmerle features the following fonts to be used as the alphabet
character sets for the variety of languages described:
mael – currently being used as Common

aelfa – currently being used as Common (royal script)
tengwar annatar – currently being used as modern Elven
angerthas moria – currently being used as modern Dwarven
hobbiton brush hand – currently being used as Halfling script
temphis brick – currently being used as Gnome
elder futhark – currently being used as ancient Common / Human

cirith elebor – currently being used as ancient Elven
moon runes – currently being used as ancient Dwarven
WSP ElvenOlati – currently being used for the Sylvan language

Sarati Eldemar LTR – currently being used for the Celestial language alphabet
meroitic demotic – currently being used for the Infernal alphabet
WSP Hethmarkn – currently being used for the Draconic alphabet
alphabet of the magi – currently being used as the script of Magic
ds_kha’zuldum – currently used for Druidic
drow angular – currently being used as modern Undercommon (drow)
WSP OrcnGoblin – currently being used for orc and goblinoid in general
DS Aqua-1 - currently used for the Aquan language alphabet

MAEL
This font is just cosmetic for displaying text in a fantasy effect and used for plain ol’ Common. It’s
the same upper and lower case so no reason to worry about which character set it’s in (upper or
lower).

AELFA
This is just a very fancy font good for dressing up anything written by nobility or wealthy
characters speaking fancy Common. Case sets are different, so it’s important to observe
capitalization when creating the text for it.

Tengwar Annatar
Used for modern Elven. Case sets are not only different, but upper case is almost useless. For
this reason it’s advisable to use ONLY the lower case when preparing text for use with this font.

Angerthas Moria
For use with modern Dwarven language. Case sets are only different in terms of size, so it’s not
critical to observe capitalization or avoid it.

Hobbiton Brush Hand
Just a cosmetic treatment of the English character set for use with Halflings, to give it a different
look and feel. Case sets are different so it’s important to observe capitalization when creating text
for it.

Temphis Brick
Font used for Gnome language. Absolutely no difference between case character sets – they are
exactly the same down to the size. So there is no need to observe capitalization.

Elder Futhark
Font used for ancient Common/human language. Case character sets are mirror-flipped
versions of one another, so it is important to observe capitalization if you choose to use it.

Cirith Elebor
Font used for ancient Elven. No H,N,Y in caps set, so I recommend using ONLY the lower-case
set.

Moon Runes
Font used for ancient Dwarven. Case character sets are different only in size – upper case is
slightly larger. So it is not that important to observe capitalization in text for use with this font.

WSP ElvenOlati
Font used for the Sylvan language. Case character sets are identical so no way to observe
capitalization.

Sarati Eldemar LTR
Currently being used for the Celestial language alphabet. Upper and lower case character sets
are each unique, so mind which set you use as you can identify capitalization with this font.

Meroitic Demotic
Font used for the Infernal language. Case character sets are absolutely the same so no need to
observe capitalization in text used with this font.

WSP Hethmarkn
Currently being used for the Draconic alphabet. Case character sets are identical so no way to
observe capitalization.

Alphabet of the Magi

Font used for any Magical writing that is magical in nature. This would cover any arcane magic
scrolls or any items for which the spell ‘read magic’ would apply. The case character sets are
identical for this font, so it is not necessary to observe capitalization when using it.

DS_Kha’zuldum
Currently used for the Druidic language alphabet. (no H in uppercase or lowercase)

Drow (angular)
Font currently used for the Undercommon (Drow) language. Case character sets are identical so
no way to observe capitalization. I prefer the angular version because it looks more evil.

WSP OrcnGoblin
Font used for any writing by orc or goblinoid creatures that might be intelligent enough to write.
Nothing fancy about this text, very primitive. Case character sets are identical so no way to
observe capitalization.

DS Aqua-1
Font currently used for the Aquan language alphabet. Case character sets are identical so there
is no way to identify capitalization – use either set.

Drow (rounded)
Alternative font for the Undercommon (Drow) language – not used currently. Case character sets
are identical so no way to observe capitalization. The rounded version is not as ‘evil-looking’ as
the angular version, so it remains to be seen when or how to use it. I will prefer to use the angular
for the effect.
