1.BASIC HISTORY AND INTRODUCTION :-

1.1 HISTORY:-

Tata Motors Limited is an Indian multinational automotive manufacturing company, headquartered


in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, and part of Tata Group. The company produces passenger cars,
trucks, vans, coaches, buses, sports cars, construction equipment and military vehicles.[4]
Formerly known as Tata Engineering and Locomotive Company (TELCO), the company was
founded in 1945 as a manufacturer of locomotives. The company manufactured its first commercial
vehicle in 1954 in a collaboration with Daimler-Benz AG, which ended in 1969. Tata Motors entered
the passenger vehicle market in 1988 with the launch of the TataMobile followed by the Tata
Sierra in 1991, becoming the first Indian manufacturer to achieve the capability of developing a
competitive indigenous automobile.[5] In 1998, Tata launched the first fully indigenous Indian
passenger car, the Indica, and in 2008 launched the Tata Nano, the world's cheapest car. Tata
Motors acquired the South Korean truck manufacturer Daewoo Commercial Vehicles Company in
2004 and purchased Jaguar Land Rover from Ford in 2008.
Tata Motors' principal subsidiaries include English premium car maker Jaguar Land Rover (the
maker of Jaguar and Land Rover cars) and the South Korean commercial vehicle manufacturer Tata
Daewoo. Tata Motors has a bus-manufacturing joint venture with Marcopolo S.A. (Tata Marcopolo),
a construction-equipment manufacturing joint venture with Hitachi (Tata Hitachi Construction
Machinery), and a joint venture with Fiat Chrysler which manufactures automotive components and
Fiat Chrysler and Tata branded vehicles.
Tata Motors has auto manufacturing and vehicle plants
in Jamshedpur, Pantnagar, Lucknow, Sanand, Dharwad, and Pune in India, as well as
in Argentina, South Africa, Great Britain, and Thailand. It has research and development centres in
Pune, Jamshedpur, Lucknow, and Dharwad, India and South Korea, Great Britain, and Spain. Tata
Motors is listed on the BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange), where it is a constituent of the BSE
SENSEX index, the National Stock Exchange of India, and the New York Stock Exchange. The
company is ranked 265th on the Fortune Global 500 list of the world's biggest corporations as of
2019.[6]
On 17 January 2017, Natarajan Chandrasekaran was appointed chairman of the company Tata
Group. Tata Motors increased its UV mark

1.2.1 TATA MOTORS PLANT,PUNE
Tata Motors Limited (TML), a $42 billion organisation, is India’s largest automobile company and is a leading
global manufacturer of cars, utility vehicles, buses, trucks and defence vehicles. Incorporated in India in the
year 1945, Tata Motors is a part of the over $100 billion Tata Group founded by Jamsetji Tata in 1868.
Recognised for its world-class quality, originality, engineering and design excellence, the Company is on the
path of shaping the future of mobility in India. Sustainability and the spirit of ‘giving back to society’ is our
guiding philosophy and good corporate citizenship is strongly embedded in our DNA. With a large global
footprint, the Company has consolidated its position as the Tata Motors Group through mergers and
acquisitions. It has a network of 76 subsidiaries in India and internationally, which provide a host of
engineering and automotive solutions. Some of the world’s most iconic brands, including Jaguar Land Rover

. The Pune facility of Tata Motors is located in the Pimpri-Chinchwad industrial belt
of Maharashtra. The state-of-the art R&D centre in this facility sets the benchmark for
automotive research and development in India. The Pune facility also houses some of
the best manufacturing facilities in the automotive industry; for example, its Product
Engineering Division has one of the biggest and the most versatile tool-making
divisions in the country.

The most versatile of Tata Motors' manufacturing plants, the Pune facility is a full
range supplier of both commercial and passenger vehicles. It boasts of delivering
more value per vehicle, since it is a highly vertically integrated plant as regards to
core processes such as engines, gear box, paint shop, etc.

The facility's commercial vehicles plant produces around 60 base models with three or
four variants each. Six assembly lines cope with the diverse range of vehicles that roll
out of the plant, like HMCV, ILCV trucks, ICV bus chassis, ICV Ultra range trucks
and bus chassis, UVs, pickups, Winger vans, SUVs, etc. It can produce 730 vehicles
per day, working in two shifts. Tata Motors' range of Defence vehicles are also
produced here.

1.3 Objective:

The objective of this Internship is to really understand the process. behind Motor making,
To get the information about the How the product are made.The aim is to operate and Handle
the Tata motors. The main focus is to understand the working of the Manufacturer unit. The
Manufacturer plant is the information of any MOTOR plant .
