Video - Health benefits of the ketogenic diet
Hi, it’s Claudia Caldwell again. Today I am going to talk about all of the health benefits that the
ketogenic diet provides. Everything that you will hear today is based on countless studies, and
believe me, scientists had a lot of time to do this research, almost 100 years actually. Now, let’s start!

As I already mentioned, in one of my previous videos, the pharmaceuticals companies would be

happiest if we would all just simply forget about this kind of dieting and decide to buy some pills. But,
thankfully here you are with learning all the health benefits this diet has to offer. And there are
plenty of them. In this video, I will show you the 4 main Health Benefits of the keto diet. What’s
even better, you will be able to try all of them on yourself very soon. Through this video, I will
present all the proof and the advantages of this kind of dieting.

Alright, after you start with the ketogenic diet, the first feeling you will get is some sort of reduced
appetite. Yes, you heard me correctly!

Benefit 1# Keto is Reducing the appetite

Many studies indicate that cutting carbs will automatically reduce not only the feeling of hunger, but
also your daily calorie intake despite the higher fat intake. How does this happen? Well, the answer is
very simple and logical. Fats provide a longer feeling of satiation. So, even though you’re on a
“diet”, you won’t be hungry. Fat also produce a chemical signal in your blood that literally “tells”
your brain to stop eating and that more energy can be created from your fat tissue. A reduced
appetite will appear almost the same day when you start with this diet. The second scientifically
proven claim is that keto diet will regulate your blood sugar level.

Helth Benefit #2 Keto Regulates you blood sugar levels

The ketogenic diet has the potential to decrease blood glucose levels. This means that you will no
more suffer from cravings, as your blood sugar level will be stable. This is something that will happen
in your body when you enter into the so-called “ketosis state”. I need to emphasize to those who
already suffer from diabetes type 2. Before you start with the ketogenic regime, and in case that you
take blood sugar medication, you need to talk to your doctor, as he or she needs to adjust your
dosage. You see, in most cases your dosage will need to be lowered to about half on the first day.
The reason behind this is quite simple – if you are under carb restriction, you will need less insulin
because you will be burning fats instead of carbs. Some studies even proved that participants who
stick to a keto diet after 6 months didn’t have to use diabetic medications any more. So, isn’t this
great news!

The next health benefit that you will achieve is linked with the regulation of the blood pressure.

THREE: Beating the hypertension

When it comes to high blood pressure, I’m certain that many of us suffer from it. So, how can the
keto diet help you to achieve and maintain the normal level of blood pressure within just 3 months?
Again it’s pretty logical. When you adapt to the ketogenic diet, one of its most popular benefits is
weight loss, and when you lose your extra pounds, your blood pressure will lower too. The risk with
high blood pressure is that higher blood pressure isn’t necessarily something you can feel, but if you
don’t treat it, in the long term, it can cause many others health problems, including strokes and a
heart attack. So, I need to repeat that if you exclude bread, soda drinks, and other kinds of ready-to-
eat- meals including fast food, you will automatically lower not only the carb intake but also the salt
intake of your diet, as all of those products contain added salt in higher amounts, and we all know
that higher salt intake leads to higher blood pressure. The next health benefit is about lowering the
bad cholesterol level in blood.

Health benefit #4 Get rid of bad cholesterol known as “LDL”

High amounts of bad cholesterol in blood present one of the main culprits when it comes to the
development of heart diseases. Again, many experts say that it is possible to significantly reduce
cholesterol levels if you change your dietary regime. In some of my other videos, I’m going to explain
everything you need to know about fats, but for now, you can consume all high-fat food such as eggs,
butter, lard, oil, whole fat milk and dairy products including cream, and with this diet you will
probably reduce the bad cholesterol levels by 10 to 20 percent in the next 3 months. Still, I need to
warn you about some of what may happen. Your total cholesterol levels rise at the beginning of the
ketogenic diet. This happens if you’re already suffering from a pre-existing state of insulin resistance,
so this combination results in a higher total cholesterol number. Still, you don’t need to be worried,
as a ketogenic lifestyle will help you normalize all of these areas and even improve the insulin
sensitivity.

Great! That pretty much wraps up the main health benefits of the keto diet - besides the accelerated
weight loss. Thanks for watching. I look forward to seeing you in the next video soon.
