History: Xu was an orphan born into the Yue Clan in a secluded forest just
outside the Arendya region. As a child, he almost fell from a cliff but was
saved by his best friend, Ziyun. While he was unharmed, his friend Ziyun
had harmed both her legs, her condition worsening every day. Xu felt
responsible for the incident and resolved to leave the forest and search the
outside world for a doctor who could cure Ziyun. But because of the clan’s
rules, he was never allowed to leave the clan’s forest.

Knowing the only way out of the forest was to participate in the Dark Moon
Ceremony. He trained with the other prospective protectors in the Moon’s
Dance. Throwing himself into the training with a frenzy, driven by his guilt
and passion to correct his mistake. He became one of the strongest out of
his peers to succeed in order to succeed in his reckless plan.

At the time of the Dark Moon Ceremony, Xu emerged as the victor and
returned to his village after sustaining a heavily scarred eye. Talking to
Ziyun a final time, she gave him one of her ribbons to hide his injury.
Wishing him luck on finding a healer for her legs.

Xu has since abandoned his post as a protector and is currently wandering

the regions in search of a powerful healer that can return Ziyun's legs to
normal. All the while his clan has branded him as a deserter and traitor.

Personality: Xu describes himself as an incredibly selfish person and

holds no illusions that he is the contrary. Not denying the fact, he had
betrayed his clan’s traditions and spat on the face of those who truly
wanted to protect everyone in the clan in order to rid himself of guilt and
focus on those he cares about.

He is noted to be extremely stubborn has a one track mind when dealing

with any situation. Following through a suicidal plan just to be able to
escape the Yue’s secluded forest in the hopes of finding a cure. He has
since been wandering around in search for said cure to no avail.
Due to the training he endured to complete the Dark Moon Ceremony,
while enraged Xu is incapable of holding back against opponents and most
encounters that results in his rage ending with either deaths or debilitating
injuries.

Background: A shrine priestess of the Yue Clan, she is Xu’s only true friend
among everyone in the Yue Clan. Due to both being orphan’s Xu latched
on to her as a pillar of support and treats her like his bigger sister.

Although she was afraid of Xu’s plans, and had been vehement in telling
him to leave it be. She had known the younger man enough to understand,
he would have been too stubborn to quit. After Xu returned from the Dark
Moon Ceremony, she gave him a ribbon to carry with him and cover up his
scar. Wishing well on his quest and hoping for his safe return.

Ziyun’s Ribbon: An item that holds incredible value to Xu, he uses to

cover his facial scars. It is a simple black ribbon that was apparently
enchanted to be see through by the shrine priestess. Xu has since taken
advantage of this enchantment to strike fear into his foes by making them
think he is a truly blind swordsman.

Yue Clan: A renowned clan of immortal swordmasters. Originally, the Yue

was a tribe of priestly sword dancers who worshipped the moon and in
return were given animal-like features. They soon attained legendary status
as warriors, and have been called "monsters" for their flawless skill with the
sword and their animal-like traits on many occasions. The clan possesses a
special constitution that surpasses that of a normal human due to being
‘touched’ by the moon but the Yue name is only ever passed down to a
single individual who has proven themselves to be the strongest of each
generation and has thus become a sworn protector of the clan.

Xu has been branded a deserter and traitor by the Clan.

Yue: The strongest individual of a generation, they are the survivors of the
Dark Moon Ceremony who attained pseudo-immortality through the
sacrifice of others. Given the solemn duty of protecting the clan from those
who would hunt them for their hearts.

Beast Heart: A special heart that is the secret to the Dark Moon Ceremony
and the Yue Clan’s renowned vitality. It is rumored to have special
revitalizing properties, which can be unlocked by eating multiple beast
hearts. Since the Yue possess these hearts, they are frequently hunted
down by those pursuing immortality. To save themselves from extinction
the Yue secluded themselves and created the Dark Moon Ceremony to
create the immortal protectors that bear the Clan’s name.

Dark Moon Ceremony: A self-sacrificial ritual wherein the current

members of a generation leave their forest near Arendya, and make a
pilgrimage to a secret Yue shrine guided by the youngest holder of the Yue
name. In this shrine, all the prospective members will be locked inside a
chamber with a ritual circle, and as soon as night falls and the Waning
Crescent is visible all members were instructed to kill one another until only
one was left. By doing so all of the residual life force would flow into the
survivor, binding their soul and body forever. Creating pseudo immortality
wherein one would be capable of being resurrected repeatedly due to the
unity of body and soul. Although this does not prolong their life against age
unless their body is preserved and resurrected at a later time. All those who
bear the name Yue being the ones that would selflessly defend the clan.
