INTRODUCTION

What is this manual about


Toppers are theme based signs to increase the at-
traction of Atronic machines.

This document describes how to install a topper to


Atronic gaming machines. It covers the Atronic plat-
forms "Cashline" and "e-motion - Hi(!)bility".

The information in this manual includes the most up-


to-date information available just before print. All part
numbers and descriptions have been carefully
reviewed and checked for accuracy. All drawings and
diagrams contain the newest revisions released by
Atronic. If earlier revisions of diagrams or drawings

The Universal Topper (UT) is available in two diffe-
rent configurations for WBC Round Top, Square
Top, Low Top and AST (each top requires a specific
base adapter! See page 13):

• with progressive display


• without progressive display

Installation - Universal Topper


(contains UT with and without progressive display)

1. Switch off power

2. Remove the toplight candle from the cabinet

• Remove Top glass from the cabinet.

• Unplug the light connectors on the toplight


assembly (figure 1).

• Remove the toplight assembly by loosening the


4 screws adequately. Light connector

• Unplug the candle toplight cable from the light (figure 1)


power cable.

TOPPER
• Unscrew the candle unit (candle+candle
mounting plate; not used anymore).

3. Mount the universal topper onto the cabinet

• Remove the 2 or 3 nuts (depends on used top-


per adapter) from the studs at the base assy of
the topper.

• Lead the cabling through the opening on top of


the cabinet.

• Position the topper on top of the cabinet to align


the screw holes with the studs.

• Fix the ground wire lug to the cabinet and secure


the topper to the cabinet top by using 2 or 3
nuts.

• Connect the candle toplight cable coming from


the topper to the light power cable in the cabinet
top.

5. Remove the monitor from the cabinet Monitor Securing Plate

• Unscrew the monitor securing plate (figure 2).

• Unplug the touch adapter and power cable from


the touch assembly (figure 2).

• Slide the monitor halfway forward and unplug


the power and the VGA cable from the monitor.

• Fully remove the monitor from the cabinet. (figure 2)

6. Wiring (all cables are labelled with p/n)

• Lead the harnesses coming from the topper

through the opening on the left of the cabinet,
down behind the logic box. Fix the harnesses
with cable ties to the already existing harness.

• Plug-in the 6 pin connector of the universal


power harness (p/n 65033360) to J9 on the
backplane.
If there is already a plug connected, remove it
and connect it to the Y-cable of the universal
power harness (p/n 65033360).

! If a Universal Topper without progressive


display is used, proceed with step 12 on page
9!

If a topper with progressive display is used


check and configure the topper DIP switches
located on the display board! DIP Switch 1-7 to
ON; 8 to OFF. Proceed with step 7 on next
page.

Dual RJ45 Adapter Board

To connect the progressive display to the comm P7


board it is necessary to install the RJ45 adapter
board.

• The dual RJ45 adapter board (p/n 65033720)
can be used to connect two progressive displays (figure 3)
to the comm board; e.g. used for topper pro-
gressive display and top glass progressive
display.
The dual RJ45 adapter board is connected to
P7 and P3 on the comm board (figure 3).

8. Wiring (all cables are labelled with p/n)

TOPPER
• Lead the RJ45 display harness (p/n 65029946)
coming from the topper through the left rear
corner of the logic box into the logic box.
Plug-in the RJ45 connector to J2 or J3 on the
dual RJ45 adapter board (p/n 65033720)
located on the comm board.

9. Mount the progressive topper power supply


(p/n 65033425) into the cabinet top box

10. Wiring (all cables are labelled with p/n)

• Connect the display power harness (p/n 6502


9949) to the progressive topper power supply
(p/n 65033425).

Connect the blue cable to AC(N), the brown cable


to AC(L) and the green cable to FG.

Lead the display power harness (p/n 65029949)
through the opening on the left of the cabinet
top, down behind the logic box. Connect the plug
(p/n 65029949) to J5 on the power board
(figure 4).

• Connect the power supply harness (p/n 6503


4407) coming from the topper to the progres-
sive topper power supply (p/n 65033425).

Connect the red cable to +5V(15A) and the black


cable to GND.

• Loose the two screws, mount the Terminal Screws


Shroud (p/n 65035363) and fix it by tighten
the two screws (figure 5).

• Apply the red "Caution Hi Voltage" sticker (p/n


65035364) to the terminal shroud (figure 5).

12. Reinstall the monitor

13. Reinstall the hopper and the coin bowl
(figure 5)
14. Reinstall the toplight assembly

15. Reconnect the light panel connectors to the


toplight assembly

16. Reinstall Top glass

17. Switch power on

The fluorescent lamps inside the topper begin to light


and the LED´s begin to run a predetermined pat-
tern. When the machine is ready all LED´s begin to
light.

Progressive Configuration
For a topper with progressive display it is necessary Note:
to use a progressive GAL or Security Device and the For progressive configuration
machine has to be configured to progressive mode. a Comm board is required!

During progressive configuration it is necessary to


set the Overhead Display Type ("Progressive Gener-
al Settings" menu) to ATAKA to run a progressive
topper!

For detailed information how to configure a machine


to progressive mode see manual "Progressive Jack-
pot" available from Atronic.

(contains topper with and without progressive display)

1. Switch off power

2. Drill 6 holes into the cabinet top

• Cover the logic box and the power supply (e.g. Note:
with cloth or foil) to prevent iron filings from Machines produced since
getting into the housing. November 2004 have ex works
pre punched Topper holes.
• Use the drilling template on page 23 to drill the
6 holes.

• Deburr the 6 drillings!

3. Mounting the e-motion topper onto the cabinet

• Remove the 4 nuts at the base of the topper.

• Lead the cabling through the 25mm openings


drilled in step 2.

• Position the topper on top of the cabinet to align


the studs with the screw holes.

• Fix the topper to the cabinet with 4 nuts.

• Fix the two ground wire lugs to the upper door


hinge. Apply the yellow ground sticker (p/n 6500
1427) to the hinge. Fix the Topper ground wire
on the other side to a stud located next to the
topper drilling holes (figure 7).

4. Wiring (all cables are labelled with p/n) Filter Board Signal

• Unplug the toplight candle cable located on P6


on the filter board signal and plug-in the topper
candle harness coming from the topper (figure
8).

• Plug-in the 8 pin connector of the light power


harness (p/n 65039510) coming from the top-
per on P14 on the filter board signal (figure 8).

! If an e-motion Topper without a progressive


display is used, the installation is finished at
this point!

If an e-motion Topper with a progressive display

is used, proceed with step 5.

Check and configure the topper display DIP P14


switches located on the display board!

5. Preparing the comm board 68k

To connect the progressive display to the comm P3


board it is necessary to install the RJ45 adapter
board. (figure 9)

• The dual RJ45 adapter board (p/n 65033720) Cover Plate (p/n 6502 5432)
is used to connect two progressive displays to
the comm board 68k; e.g. used for topper pro-
gressive display and top glass progressive
display.
The dual RJ45 adapter board is connected to
Cover Plate (p/n 6502 4062)
P7 and P3 on the comm board (figure 9).

6. Remove the cover plate (p/n 65024062) at the


top of the logic box (figure 10)

• Lead the RJ45 display harness (p/n 65029946)


coming from the topper through the opening on
top of the logic box.
Plug-in the RJ45 connector to J2 or J3 on the
dual RJ45 adapter board (p/n 65033720)
located on the comm board.

8. Install the cover plate w. cable recess (p/n 6502
5432) at the top of the logic box (figure 10)

9. Preparing the progressive topper power supply Cover Plate (p/n 6502 4062)

• Mount the progressive topper power supply
(p/n 65033425) to the power supply plate (p/n
65034397) and fix it with four screws.

The progressive topper power supply voltage input
is selectable!
The factory setting is 115V, check and change if
necessary!

• Remove the two knurled nuts securing the Vastec
power supply in the cabinet (figure 11).

• Install the progressive power supply assembly


and fix it with the two knurled nuts (figure 11).

• Connect the display power harness (p/n 6503


4406) to the progressive topper power supply
(p/n 65033425).

Connect the blue cable to AC(N), the brown cable


to AC(L) and the green cable to FG.

with the cable clip located on the Vastec power
supply (figure 12).

Connect the display power harness plug (p/n


65034406) to the Current Outlet (figure 12).

• Connect the power supply harness (p/n 6503


4407) coming from the topper to the progres-
sive topper power supply (p/n 65033425).

Connect the red cable to +5V(15A) and the black


cable to GND.

12. Mounting the progressive topper power supply

• Loose the two screws, mount the Terminal

the two screws (figure 13).
