Q1. Check out the status of the male cosmetics industry in


India and list the major players in the industry?

Answer- Using cosmetics more than a after shave balm or


moisturizer was a taboo earlier. But nowadays things are
changing very rapidly. In the recent scenario men’s are
becoming more and more conscious about how they look and
they want to see or present themselves more effectively.
But nowadays male grooming or cosmetics are having a
business of almost Rs. 3,800cr in India.
As per estimates by global market research firm Euro monitor,
the category clocked 21% annual growth and is expected to
touch Rs 5,270 crore in the next three years.
 FMCG companies are also looking to lure more male
consumers.
 According to Sanjay Singal, marketing head, beauty care
at Dabur India, says men are increasingly becoming the
drivers of growth for the Indian cosmetic market.
“Today, men believe that not just social acceptance but also
career success is linked to how a person presents himself to
the external world,” he says.
It was in 2005, when Emami was the first company to launch
a fairness cream, Fair and Handsome, created exclusively for
men in India. Since then, men grooming market has gained a
lot of attention and is flourishing at an unprecedented rate.
Also, there is a transition in the business and marketing
approach of the products sold by male grooming majors.
India’s men’s grooming products market by their product
type is increasing very rapidly.
India men’s grooming products market stood at $ 1.4 billion
in 2016, and is projected to grow at a CAGR of over 15%, in
value terms, during 2017-2022, to reach $ 3.3 billion by 2022.
Rising number of consumers with early ageing problems,
increasing disposable income and expanding young working
population are aiding the India men’s grooming products
market.
Some of the major reasons for the growth of the male cosmetic
