Part 1: How to Create a Drawing

1.1 Reminds before drawing
Extract the parts that are to be drawn.
Check that the part file is no longer linked, otherwise break the links.
Removed the surfaces that were used for construction.
Lower the locking bar at the bottom of the construction tree.

1.2 Document template

1.2.1 Detailed drawings

The detail plans are made mainly with the A3 drawing model, do not use the
other formats than if the plan is not readable on an A3

We do not draw symmetrical parts.

It is possible to make several folio for the same part so that the plan is more readable. In this
case copy the first sheet and paste it after the first sheet

1.2.2 Assembly drawings

The assembly drawings are made mainly with the A3 drawing model, do not use the
other formats than if the plan is not readable on an A3

DEVELOPMENT PLAN

1.3 Insert views

Pay attention to the scale, ALWAYS use the sheet scale.

Insert the views needed for dimensioning, plus an isometric view. (No plan view without dimensions)

Put at least one view with the hidden lines visible. This makes it possible not to forget to rate
machining that is hidden.

Add the center lines of all the holes

Sample plan
GOOD PRACTICES ENGINEERING
PR2-BPXXX
DEVELOPMENT PLAN

Part 2: Quotation
Do not dimension the hidden lines, a dimension should as far as possible always be attached to a
continuous line.

Tip 1: Tip: To dimension the outside of a radius press SHIFT at the same time
as you click on the spoke.

2.1 Ordinal dimensions

Make maximum use of ordered dimensions

GOOD PRACTICES ENGINEERING
PR2-BPXXX
DEVELOPMENT PLAN

On all the views always use the same border for the start of dimension.
GOOD PRACTICES ENGINEERING
PR2-BPXXX
DEVELOPMENT PLAN

Always rate against the most functional surfaces of the part.

GOOD PRACTICES ENGINEERING
PR2-BPXXX
DEVELOPMENT PLAN

2.2 Dimensioning by the center

It is possible to dimension in relation to the middle of the part by adding = on each side of the
side.

2.3 Dimensioning of holes

2.3.1 Drilling assistant

To dimension the holes, use the symbol function for the hole
GOOD PRACTICES ENGINEERING
PR2-BPXXX
DEVELOPMENT PLAN

Special case: counterboring depth on a non-flat surface

For countersunk holes where the counterbore is on top of a non-planar surface, you must delete the depth of the
counterbore given by the function and set the depth dimension to a another view (or else do not use this function and
dimensioned differently)
GOOD PRACTICES ENGINEERING
PR2-BPXXX
DEVELOPMENT PLAN

2.3.2 Drilling on a slope

Insert an auxiliary view for dimensioned the position of the holes

Dimension the holes in relation to the edges which will be taken as the origin during manufacture
GOOD PRACTICES ENGINEERING
PR2-BPXXX
DEVELOPMENT PLAN

2.3.3 Pin holes

In the case of drilling for pinning, the tolerance has been entered in the 3D, it must appear
automatically in the drilling dimension.

If this is not the case, the 3D of the part must be extracted and the tolerance of the hole must be filled in.
the left pane.

For the assembly of parts linked by pins, it is essential to dimension the center distance and
tolerate.

Bronze bushing or bushing housing dimension

2.3.4 Drilling table

In the case of plates with a lot of holes, it is cleaner to insert a table of holes rather than having lots of odds on the map.
GOOD PRACTICES ENGINEERING
PR2-BPXXX
DEVELOPMENT PLAN

Check that the table model is "SW drilling table model".

Put control in apha

Select the reference (the designer is free to choose):

- Either the origin is a pin hole

- Either the X and Y axis correspond to the edge of the part

GOOD PRACTICES ENGINEERING
PR2-BPXXX
DEVELOPMENT PLAN

Then validate and place the drilling table on the plan.

Click at the top left of the table, this will open on the left pane the properties of the
table.
Change the scheme as below

When the table is too big it is possible to split it. Right click on the line where you want
divide the table then click on split.

It is possible to make several folios if the drilling table takes up too much space.

It is also possible to delete rows from the drilling table, in the case of a pocket by
example. All you have to do is select the line and have it deleted.

For the pins, it is necessary to add the toleranced positioning dimensions on the drawing.

It remains only to put the external dimensions of the part with its tolerances if necessary.

DEVELOPMENT PLAN

2.3.5 Dimensioning threaded sleeves (insert)

If you have to put a threaded socket, in a plastic part add by hand "insert" in the
quotation text
GOOD PRACTICES ENGINEERING
PR2-BPXXX
DEVELOPMENT PLAN

2.4 Dimensioning of an oblong

NOK: in general, the shelf quotation is of no interest

OK: in the majority of cases, it is the center distance and the width of the oblong that are important.

Do not forget the centerlines.

2.5 Dimensioning a chamfer

To dimension chamfers use the chamfer dimension function. Select the edge of the chamfer, then
a reference stop and the location of the text
GOOD PRACTICES ENGINEERING
PR2-BPXXX
DEVELOPMENT PLAN

2.6 Dimensioning of form parts

The shaped parts are made on digital orders, so we indicate on the part only the flow rate and the dimensions of the
fasteners. A note can be added "machining according to 3D form ”, this note can be found in the Coretec standard blocks
GOOD PRACTICES ENGINEERING
PR2-BPXXX
DEVELOPMENT PLAN

2.7 Flat dimension

When tightening an axis with a key, a dimension with tolerance must be put between the flats.

The dimension must correspond to a classic key dimension see table

DEVELOPMENT PLAN

3.3 Housing dimension

On the casing plans, indicate if necessary:

- The dimensions of the profiles

- The type of macrolon or Forex casing
- The position of the casing: outside or inside the profile (rebated)
- The position and number of slot cover or plug.
- The opening direction of the door
- The dimensions and positions of the holes that are to be added in the profiles (make views
details of these holes)

Part 4: Tolerance

4.1 General tolerance of the plane

In mechanical engineering, general tolerances are used for:

- Avoid writing too many indications on the plan.
- Have a fully toleranced part.

The general tolerance is indicated in the cartridge and changes automatically according to
the item's heading

USI: ISO 2768 mK

CHD: ISO13920 AE

General tolerances :
- ISO 2768 (this is the standard)
- the precision class (f ⇒ fine, m ⇒ medium, c ⇒ coarse or v ⇒ very coarse)
- the accuracy class for geometric tolerances (H, K or L)

This has the consequence that it is necessary to indicate only:

--- tolerances which are smaller than general tolerances
--- tolerances which are larger than general tolerances, if this is of interest (e.g.
ex. reduction in manufacturing cost).

4.2 Flatness tolerance

If you want flatness on a plate:

- Or use to machine two faces

- Either put a flatness tolerance on the plate

Note 1: Machined aluminum plate on both sides

This saves machining time, and therefore costs.

Use ALU 5083 as material, maximum plate dimensions 1500x3000mm.

Characteristic of these plates.

Do not use two-sided machining on all the plates but only the one
which need flatness, because the 2-sided machined at a cost

On the plan, insert note 5083 FACTORY 2 FACES

Part 6: Engraving

6.1 Engraving the numbering of the plan

The engraving of the part number must be done by the manufacturer, according to the CDC that was provided.

If you want the engraving to be done at a specific location on the part, you must indicate it on the plan. In Coretec
standard blocks use the note "ENGRAVE PART REF"

ENGRAVE PART NUMBER

6.2 Specific engraving

Put an annotation on the plan, so that engraving is not confused with machining. In Coretec standard blocks use the note
"ENGRAVING"

ENGRAVING

DEVELOPMENT PLAN

Part 7: Tip for verification

Think about machining!

We start from the flow: control the length, width, height.

Which face you are going to be referenced on the machine.

For a pocket, check that the position is defined, as well as the dimension, length, width, depth, and the cutter radius.

For drilling, check that the position is defined, as well as its size and depth.

If the part is referenced by pins, check that the tolerances on the positioning and diameter are well put.

Is there any commercial material attached to this part, if so see the recommendations from the manufacturer.

Check where the part goes in the machine, and add geometry tolerances and roughness related to
the function of the part, only if necessary.

Part 8: Plan review

When modifying an existing part, the plane changes to the higher index.

In order to facilitate the work of reworking the part, it is important to specify on the plan which were
changes to the part. For it:

1. - Select the dimension to be indexed:

2. - In the left menu, select the “symbol variables” icon:

Part 9: General plan

9.1 General plan of the machine

To create your plans, use the A3 background as a priority because all the plans are
printed in A3 for manufacturing. On the first tab insert views of the machine.Change the scale of the views so
that it is readable.

To change the scale of the plane, right-click on the background map, and select properties. Then
change the scale and apply the changes.

Attention, do not insert anything above the cartridge (About 80mm free above cartridge) so as not to have to
retouch the overall drawing in the case of replacement of the CORETEC cartridge by a customer
cartridge. (Renault, Bosch ...)

DO NOT INSERT ANYTHING IN THIS AREA

Indicate the external dimensions of the machine, as well as its weight with annotations. This
information is useful for loading and shipping the machine. The font of the annotations must be at least 10.

The weight of the machine indicated in the cartridge only takes into account the solidworks elements,
which have a correctly entered mass. This mass does not take take into account the screws, the cables, the
elements which are in the cabinet. To have a mass which is closest to reality, multiply the mass estimated by
SolidWorks by 1.25, then add the weight of the cabinet estimated by the electricians.

Indicate the type of electrical and pneumatic power supplies, as well as their positions. These
information is useful to the workshop.

Indicate whether electric or pneumatic extension cords are requested by the customer. The
stakeholders who are going to put it into service at the customer's site will need it.

PLEASE NOTE ALL NOTES MUST BE LEGIBLE ON A PLAN PRINTED IN A3.
