LOW CARBON STEEL FOR


POLE LINE HARDWARE AND ANCHORS

This specification covers low carbon, flat rolled, steel for use in pole line hardware and screw
anchors. The purpose of this specification is to provide maximum material availability while
insuring minimum product performance requirements can be met. The steel shall conform to the
specifications in ASTM A568 except as noted.

Yield Strength 33,000 min


Carbon .15% max
Manganese .90% max
Phosphorous .03% max
Sulphur .035% max
Silicon** 0 - .04% or .15% - .25%
Elongation 25% min

**Silicon content is a critical feature for all raw material intended to be galvanized in the U.S. These
requirements may be considered reference only if the material in question is sourced complete (already
galvanized) and meets all galvanizing requirements specified on the applicable drawing.

This material may be cold formed, welded, hot forged, and hot dip galvanized.

The supplier shall supply certification of the heat analysis for the specified elements listed above.
