WEEK 3 GUIDE

CYA Online Men’s Household 2021:

MAN UP, MAN OF GOD

PRAYER BOOK
MORNING PRAYERS
1. PSALM 1
1 Blessed is the man
who walks not in the counsel of the wicked;

nor stands in the way of sinners,

nor sits in the seat of scoffers

2 but his delight is in the law of the LORD,

and on his law he meditates day and night.

3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water

that yields its fruit in its season,

and its leaf does not wither.

In all that he does he prospers.

4 The wicked are not so,

but are like chaff which the wind drives away.

5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the

judgment,
nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous;

6 for the LORD knows the way of the righteous,

but the way of the wicked will perish.

2. PSALM 62
1 For God alone my soul waits in silence;
from him comes my salvation.

2 He only is my rock and salvation,

my fortress; I shall not be greatly moved.
PRAYER BOOK
3 How long will you set a man
to shatter him, all of you,
like a leaning wall, a tottering fence?

4 They only plan to thrust him down from his

eminence.
They take pleasure in falsehood.
They bless with their mouths,
but inwardly they curse.

5 For God alone my soul waits in silence,

for my hope is from him.

6 He only is my rock and my salvation,

my fortress; I shall not be shaken.

7 On God rests my deliverance and my honor,

my mighty rock, my refuge is God.

8 Trust in him at all times, O people;

pour out your heart before him;
God is a refuge for us.

9 Men of low estate are but a breath,

men of high estate are a delusion ;
in the balances they go up;
they are together lighter than a breath.

10 Put no confidence in extortion,

set no vain hopes on robbery;
if riches increase, set not your heart on them.

11 Once God has spoken;

twice have I heard this;
that power belongs to God;

12 and that to you, O Lord, belongs steadfast

love.
For you requite a man
according to his work.

6. PERSONAL MEDITATION
PRAYER BOOK
NIGHT PRAYERS [Link to audio file]
O God, come to my assistance.
O Lord, make haste to help me.

Praise the Father, the Son, and Holy Spirit

Both now and forever;
The God who is, who was, and is to come,
At the end of the ages.

1. PSALM 4
2 When I call, answer me, O God of justice;
From anguish you released me, have mercy and
hear me!

3 O men, how long will your hearts be closed,

Will you love what is futile and seek what is
false?

4 It is the LORD who grants favors to those

whom he loves;
The LORD hears me whenever I call him.

5 Fear him; do not sin: ponder on your bed and

be still.

6 Make justice your sacrifice and trust in the

LORD.

7 “What can bring us happiness?” many say.

Lift up the light of your face on us, O LORD.
PRAYER BOOK
NIGHT PRAYERS
8 You have put into my heart a greater joy
than they have from abundance of corn and new
wine.

9 I will lie down in peace and sleep comes at

once
for you alone, LORD, make me dwell in safety.

2. PSALM 91
1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
and abides in the shade of the Almighty

2 says to the LORD: ‘My refuge,

my stronghold, my God in whom I trust!’

3 It is he who will free you from the snare

of the fowler who seeks to destroy you;

4 he will conceal you with his pinions

and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.

5 You will not fear the terror of the night

nor the arrow that flies by day,

6 nor the plague that prowls in the darkness

nor the scourge that lays waste at noon.

7 A thousand may fall at your side,

ten thousand fall at your right,

8 Your eyes have only to look

to see how the wicked are repaid,
PRAYER BOOK
NIGHT PRAYERS
9 you have said: ‘LORD, my refuge!’
and have made the Most High your dwelling.

10 Upon you no evil shall fall,

no plague approach where you dwell.

11 For you has he commanded his angels,

to keep you in all your ways.

12 They shall bear you upon their hands,

lest you strike your foot against a stone.

13 On the lion and the viper you will tread

and trample the young lion and the dragon.

14 Since he clings to me in love, I will free

him;
protect him for he knows my name.

15 When he calls I shall answer: ‘I am with

you.’
I will save him in distress and give him glory.

16 With length of life I will content him;

I shall let him see my saving power.

3. SHORT INTERCESSION
Pray for the upcoming day, for your loved
ones, etc.
PRAYER BOOK
NIGHT PRAYERS
4. BRIEF REVIEW OF THE DAY
What happened to me throughout the day?

How can I be more loving to God and to others?

5. CLOSING PRAYER: CANTICLE OF SIMEON

Lord, save us while we are awake. Protect us while
we sleep; and Christ, with whom we keep our watch,
will guard our souls in peace.

Now Lord, you will let your servant go in peace,

according to your word, for my eyes have seen your
saving deed which you have set before all men: a
light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory
to your people Israel.

Praise the Father, the Son, and Holy Spirit, both

now and forever. The God who is, who was, and is to
come, at the end of the ages. May the almighty and
merciful Lord grant us a restful night and a
peaceful death.
