Jesus Loves Me
Jesus loves me! This I know, for the Bible tells me so.
Little ones to him belong. They are weak, but he is strong.
Refrain
Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so.
Jesus loves me! This I know, as he loved so long ago,
taking children on his knee, saying, "Let them come to me."
refrain
Prayer of Confession
God of our hopes and our hearts, You provide the gift of faith but we lose
heart quickly. Troubles weaken our trust and disappointments eat away at
our commitment. Forgive us and create in us clean hearts and in your love,
give us peace and perseverance.
Silent Confession
Assurance of Pardon
One: Remember the promise Paul declares: What will separate us from the
love of Christ? Hardship? Distress? Peril or sword? No, in all these things
we are more than conquerors through the God who loves us. Neither
death nor life, nor things present nor things to come can separate us from
the love of God in Christ Jesus. Let us rejoice that, no matter what is
happening around us, no matter what we have done, God’s deep love will
never let us go.
All: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven and set free by God’s most
generous grace!

Sanctuary
Lord, prepare me to be a sanctuary,
pure and holy, tried and true.
With thanksgiving, I'll be a living
sanctuary for you. x2
PROCLAIMING THE WORD
Prayer of Illumination
Reading from the Psalms
Psalm 121
I lift up my eyes to the hills—from where will my help come? 2 My help comes from the
Lord, who made heaven and earth. 3 He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps
you will not slumber. 4 He who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. 5 The Lord
is your keeper; the Lord is your shade at your right hand. 6 The sun shall not strike you
by day, nor the moon by night. 7 The Lord will keep you from all evil; he will keep your
life. 8 The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time on and
forevermore.

RESPONDING TO THE WORD
*Affirmation of Faith Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in
Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,
born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead,
and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the
dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the
Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the
dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion
of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life
everlasting. AMEN.
Invitation to Giving

Change My Heart, O God
Refrain
Change my heart, O God; make it ever true.
Change my heart, O God; may I be like you.
You are the Potter; I am the clay.
Mold me and make me; this is what I pray.

All: and in your mercy, answer.

Live into Hope
Live into hope of captives freed,
of sight regained, the end of greed.
The oppressed shall be the first to see
the year of God's own jubilee!
Live into hope! The blind shall see
with insight and with clarity,
removing shades of pride and fear,
a vision of our God brought near.
Live into hope of liberty,
the right to speak, the right to be,
the right to have one's daily bread,
to hear God's word and thus be fed.
Live into hope of captives freed
from chains of fear or want or greed.
God now proclaims our full release
to faith and hope and joy and peace.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
A Season of Faithfulness
Members and friends, you should have received a letter from Pastor John this week expressing
significant challenges that CPC is faced with as 2022 rapidly comes to a close. In the letter you will
see a brief description of what this entails. A brief survey is included to help the Session consider your
input in the process of potentially making hard choices if giving/income is not significantly increased.
Please consider returning your completed survey by Wednesday, October 19. Also, prayerfully
consider completing and returning the 2023 Stewardship Pledge as by the end of October to provide
the Session with the key information it needs in planning for this coming year.
Adult Education
Join us, for our in person fall Adult Education study: Cultivating Fruitfulness. Participants will receive
their own book for personal daily devotions and reflections. We will have weekly gatherings
